My mom and I have decided that instead of buying a prom dress that shes going to make me one. Originally we were going to make it red, but unfortunately I live in a Northern town and you can't get every single type of fabric in every color of the rainbow, and to go to the nearest city which is Winnipeg it would be an 8 hour drive. And red is a really hard color to order, because there just isn't as much as others, I mean they do have reds..but not the reds I would like my dress to be.This is the kind of dress (http://www.preciousformals.com/posh_precious/view/o20229.html) that I want, its a mermaid dress, its going to look alot like that one. But without the train, and its going to have a corset back like this (http://www.bellaformal.com/cgi-bin/descriptionA.asp?dress=r853) one.

So my question is, I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts about what color I should make this dress. I have pics in my profile. (http://www.teenspot.com/profiles/sexi_blonde_baby06/) Just so you guys know, light colors wash me out. Like light pinks and whites. I am so totally stuck on this. And your help would be appreciated.

...I think in any colour this dress will look tacky.. White looks good... any other colour will look awful. also I suggest you try this dress style on before you decide to have it. That woman is thin as hell and she looks like she has huge thighs..

I have tried on mermaid dresses, and they looked really good on me. But thanks for your input.

As for dark blue, I like that idea. Thanks.

I don't have a photoshop program on my computer though..can I download a free one? Or do you recommend a program that I could buy, because I was looking for one anyways.

Wow. You seem pretty stranded location-wise.

Anyway, I like the dark blue idea. Or maybe a deep purple? I wouldn't have suggested the mermaid style dress, but if it looks good on you, then there you go.

Evre considered buying a spray on tan maybe?
The light colors wouldn't wash you out, and it'd look really nice at the same time.
It's not at all expensive, and isn't permanent.

That way, you have more of a variety of colors you could choose from, instead of limiting yourself to only dark drabby ones.
:(

No, I would never consider a fake tan, it would turn me orange, and even if I went to a tanning bed and got a tan, I would look soo fake! And no one said anything about dark drabby colors, I was thinking more of bright colors, because they usually go nicer with my light complexion.

So I think I'm going to go with a sapphire blue. I'm hoping that I don't have any troubles getting material that color, so I'll see on friday when my mom and I go in.

I don't have a myspace, and the computers at my school are kinda old, and hardly work. Apparently they have other things to pay for other than new computers, even when half of them don't work.

Well we can order it at the store, but their carriers may not have my color in the right material. But, I'll see when we go.
