I suffer from acne (except they're more red marks than full blown spots). I have tried EVERYTHING in the shops to get clear skin but nothing works. Its really getting me down cos i have to get up early to put my makeup on, hate taking my makeup off when my boyfriend stays over, can't stay over at anyones house cos i have to take my makeup off.
I wish i had clear skin so i didn't need to wear makeup.
My question is, does anyone know of a treatment/cream/gel that really works on acne? (That u have tried). Even if it's expensive and you have to buy it on the internet.
OR
I heard the doctor can prescribe tablets to help clear acne... what are these and has anyone tried them? Do they work? What do i ask for?

If you believe your acne is really serious and nothing else can help it go away then yes, go to your doctor and ask for Accutane. It's the strongest pills out there and it basically works for everyone, I was on it and I had the worst skin ever and now they are all gone. It's basically a life saver to me, and it makes me feel a lot more confident.
No one knows what your skin looks like though, so he may try you on some other medication first that is a little weaker because Accutane is a bitch, you have to get blodo tests and convince your doctor your not going to get pregnant anytime soon (if your female). It some times screws with your cycle too, and I had to get blood tests every month because it can give you liver complications.
If you do get accutaune you go on 6 month cycles of it, and if they have cleared up in 6 months (which in every case they normally always do) then you don't go back on it but if they come back then you go on again.
Goodluck!
I have acne, it use to get me down all the time but then i realized that i have bigger and more important problems in my life, so i ignore it, hopefully it will go on its own.

I have a huge blackhead problem (on my chin and the sides of my nose) And i use St.Ives Blackhead/Blemish clearing. It's a Scrub that you use in the shower (i suppose you could use it as a mask too) And it works wonders. It has little peices... And i mean really little... peices of Apricot pit, that's been ground up and it really works for your pores. I love it and it smells good too! It's only like $8.00 @ Target. Hope i helped

acne is from dairy foods as well as white bread so I would suggest cutting down on milk
cheese ice cream and white bread.... Most doctors and internet sites say diet has nothing to do wit acne but it really does .I was suffereing with acne for a long time but changed my diet around and it helps a lot. So if u reduce ur dairy intake ur going to need some Calcium supplements and what also would be good is Essential Fatty Acids which u could get at a vitamin shoppe or GNC store or any vitamin place...just type in anything i have said on google like dairy acne or white bread acne and u will find sources that back me up
do you go to a dermatoligist? do that.

you wont be prescribed tablets. If youre acne is only minor they wont give them out because of the sdide effects and its not worth it.
foods has nothing to do with acne, acne is when the pores produce too much oil. just use a proactive face wash ro something.

the food your eat doesnt really have much to do with acne, trust me on that.
See a dermatologist, he can see how bad it is, and give en expert opinion bsed on that, we cant really do much not knowing how bad it is. But a lot of people dont realise one of the biggest causes of acne is touching your face, if you MUST touchj your face, make sure your hands are clean. If you eat some hot chips, and then later on touch your face, your basically fucking up your skin right there.

Whoa. You don't know what Proactive is? I thought everyone knew.....
They have like a billion commericals with stars such as Jessica Simspon, Kelly Clarkson, P.Diddy, etc promoting their product. They are like the number 1 acne medicine ever or something like that. I'm pretty sure it's availble everywhere. It's a 3-step-formula. Face wash, mask, another mask. (I think).

Ok so the moral of the story is go to a dermatologist and they'll prescribe you whatever they see fit.
but food really does affect it. the less crap you eat and the more water you drink the better your skin will be. im not saying it will clear up acne totally but it will help.

Differin gel isn't good at all. My face got so dry that i hurt to just wash it, and I looked like some kind of leper because my face was getting purified so it was breaking out and I go to go cover it up and it just made the dry skin show up million times more, so I stopped using it.

You don't want to be taking any pills the doctor prescribes if you are sexually active and use the pill as your only source of protection.
I used an antibiotic gel from my doctor that is just applied directly to your face then I moisturised thoroughly.
I then changed my Birth control to Yasmin which helped keep the pimples away so i didn't need the gel.

Make sure you wash your face twice daily! Ive tried a bunch of different things to get rid of acne and nothings every worked. Ive tried at least 5 different cremes, but nothing. Because mine isnt severe, Im just dealing with it till it goes away. But when i started washing my face twice a day instead of once, I noticed a slight differece

If you do get Accutane or Roaccutane as its called in the UK then id strongly advise to put vaseline on your lips a couple of times a day as they can get very dry, your face also drys out and pretty much your whole body.

Im on roaccutane. it will be better for you in the long run. if you, or anyone, decide to go on the drug, listen to this advice carefully.
DO NOT pop any of the zits!!!!!!! If you do, the mark that is left is really red and really obvious, due to roaccutane weakening the skin, it also takes longer to heal. If you just have the zit, it will be gone in a matter of days, because the skin is being dried. So whatever you do, do not pop. You can give yourself an even worse look if you do (I'm speaking from experience here)
Never leave the house without chapstick or anything. Lips can get so dry and they crack and it hurts and looks gross.
Don't take the drug and leave the dermatologist without asking anything further. Ask him for any tips, or if he can recommend any products for you. You will need help from him.
In short, roaccutane IS a rough ride. I've had to stay home from school because of a reaction to it, my face went all red and looked like a tomato. That is expected during the first few months, but then after about 3 months it is meant to clear up realyl quickly. Bloody well hope so anyway
ANywya, good luck, it'll be for the best in the long run.

I managed to avoid the serious acne that runs in my family. I do occasionally get a pimple, but I do have very nice skin. Wanna know my secret?
DON'T MESS WITH YOUR FACE!!! Do not touch it, don't wash it with harsh soaps, don't put makeup on it or weird lotions and creams... Just leave it alone. It knows how to take care of itself. You have a certain amount of natural oils on your face that protect it. When you wash it obsessively, your skin has to create more oils to replace the ones you got rid of, and you end up with extra. Just...leave it alone. Seriously. I don't do anything to my face and I have wonderful skin. Trust me.
Also, it helps to drink a lot of water.

my mother went to an arbonne party yesterday and the arbonne consultant said somethin about how proactiv doesnt penetrate deep down deep, it only treats surface break outs yet arbonne does.
I'm using proactiv and have breakouts every once n a while, not very often, but i think i might try the arbonne and see how that works.

you're wrong. sorry. but food does have effects on acne.
if you eat a lot of greasy or oily foods then that will affect you and it will increase the oily-ness of your skin. not gonna lie.
but i dont know. i dont have acne. but i use Clean and Clear for my facewash and it works great.
but i'm pretty sure i just have regular zits that teens get so.. you know.

Hey guys,
I went through all of this with my skin, too. I've had really bad acne over the last few years and it just finally started clearing up. I found out about this makeup from my dermatologist and it's really good for your skin. It's called Dermacia and they have a special acne line. It's a special makeup for people with problem skin, so it doesn't clog your pores and make your face worse. I started using it and broke out a little for about a month, then my skin totally cleared. It was really great for me to find a makeup that can cover up my scars and other issues but not be bad for my skin. Not to plug it too much, but go to DermaciaMD.com and look at it, cause if you really have bad skin like I did it will help you. Now I can go to the gym and take off my makeup without being embarrassed.

Try Proactive.
You can order it off the computer or from TV.
Basically, its three steps.
Theres the face wash you use first.
Then the liquid stuff you just splash on your face.
And then the lotion you put on.
They also have Proactive make-up, for acne faces.
They have stuff like refining masks and body wash too.
