This might seem a little dumb, but Im really confused/lost on this topic.
About 2 months ago I got a hair cut and I wanted straight hair so she straightened it for me after the cut. Every night after I wash/dry my hair I use the exact same straightening spray that she used. But I just cant seem to get it as straight as she did! My hairs naturally wavy/really poofy (looks really bad if nothings done to it). These two pics are after she did it and after I do it. (sorry there not the same pose, Ive used this for the pic rate forum)

After stylist did it

After I do it

If you cant tell, its more poofy after I do it...
(and my bangs have been wierd because I cant get them that straight)

if you can help at all that would be awesome, thx

well I just got a new straightner...its just a conair one, nothing special but I cant see paying 200 dollars for a really nice straightner but there as to be something else I can do...

no the pics arent mixed up, I personally like it better after she did it.

She probably used a different technique than you? And the straighteners hairdressers use tend to be better. You could buy one but they're really expensive, or so I hear. But yeah. I really don't think it looks that bad when you do it. =) And that's coming from someone who's been straightening their hair since the 5th grade. ;*

ok...well thx everyone. I still think my hair looks kinda poofy after I do it....Guess when I just go to get my hair cut again in a couple months ill just see if she can try to show me

Or also, I change my hair style a lot. I just havent found one I really like. Does any one have any ideas?

i dont think it's that bad.
probably because you've just washed it so naturally its more poofy.
Dont straighten too much though. Some kids at our school have hair that's starting to fall out

ok...is there a way not to wash it naturally? (lol sorry thought it just sounded kidna wierd...)

I straighten every other night, cause thats how often I wash my hair. But sometimes I do a litle extra in the morning if needed (no more then 3 minutes)

Honestly, I think it looks better in the second picture, when you do it.

Keep in mind, also, i don't know if this was mentioned b/c i didn't read all of the replies... but she's a professional. She knows little tricks you don't know... and if you want to, next time ask her to show you how to straighten your hair and have her work you through it. If she's cool, she'll be happy to help you.

well, you don't have to spend 200 dollars for the best straightener although they are the best.
If your going to spend 40 o a conair you might as well invst like 30 or even 20 extra dollars to invest in atleast a btter straightener. I paid 70 for mine its Inisis i think thats how you spell it and it works great. But the better result the more you splurge

I personally think that it looks tons better when you did it. If you want straighter hair, blow dry your hair straight first with a round brush, then straighten it. Also, maybe try some straightening shampoos, like Herbal Essences or something.

i have super thick and wavy hair and always had trouble straightening it this is what i do:
-use sun silk (the purple bottle) shampoo and conditioner
-blow dry it straight
-straighten it

i used to have a conair one which didnt work at all, but i got a good one from a hair dresser, for 80$ i now have nice straight hair :D
