Yes the last two lines are a homage to a Billy Bragg song.
Glistening lights in a charcoal sky;
Have painted my fingers black
Nicotine fills my blood and I realise;
There is beauty in death
The blackened hand holding my cigarette smiles
As energy from my nuclear reaction explodes, dead all around
Beauty was born and then there was life…
Wishing upon shooting death and aeroplanes
It seems so wrong to wish on space hardware
How I wish, I wish, I cared.
Glistening lights in a charcoal sky;
Have painted my fingers black
Nicotine fills my blood and I realise;
There is beauty in death
The blackened hand holding my cigarette smiles
As energy from my nuclear reaction explodes, dead all around
Beauty was born and then there was life…
Wishing upon shooting death and aeroplanes
It seems so wrong to wish on space hardware
How I wish, I wish, I cared.
