I just got back from the beach and I have a really bad sunburn. And it burns and itches at the same time. And it's driving me crazy. What can I put on it to lessen the burn and itchiness?

aloe may help.
it also quickens the healing of the skin.

Vitamin E gel, works wonders on sun burns I've found.
Also, Aloe vera gel.
Both can be bought at just a regular pharmacy or drug store whatever you want to call it. Like Pharma Plus or Shoppers drug mart..

Well from my experience with sunburns (which is extensive, I live in Miami), Aloe helps soothe it and creams with novacaine numb it, and can be found in any pharmacy next to all the sunscreens, its a green gel goo looking bottle.
But....Aloe also facilitates in skin regeneration and so it will help you peel a lot faster. What I do in order not to pill and to reduce the burn, itch, and redness, is...call me crazy...apply milk of magnesia with a cotton swab to the affected areas. It will stay paste white so you can't so this if you plan on going out in public, but it works wonders.
You can also find milk of magnesia at CVS but in the medicine section...errm around the laxative section (since milk of magnesia is a laxative/helps heart burn)

They have aloe vera with lidocaine in it if it really hurts. It will numb it a little. Awesome stuff.

Drink lots and lots of water. Whenever I get burnt over the summer I drink a gallon or two of water, pee alot, and the next day im better.

put aloe vera gel and lotion on the sunburn, don't wear itchy clothes, and make sure to sleep on your stomach or side instead of your back.

Find an actual aloe plant, cut the leaves in half (be careful of the pointy edges), and slather the goo all over your sunburn.
Let it dry before you touch anything else.
Repeat each day.

Lots and lots of Aloe Vera Gel. LOTS. I get sunburns all the time (Sailing is my favourite sport and I frequently forget to put on sunscreen) and it works. Put it on several times a day & try not to let your clothes/sheets touch it if possible.

Aloe, blah blah.
I have little sympathy. I wish I could hit the beach in January. :(

if its itching now, the burning feeling will stop very soon. the tiching is because your skin is dry and peeling/ or will peel very soon. moisturize to stop the itching and use aloe and solarcane to numb it for the burning
