Ceramic coated will eventually come off. But, its not bad, thats how mine is. Ceramic ones are very expensive.

Yeah, the ceramic coating will come off.
The straightener I used for a while was ceramic coating, the coating wore off and it was just metal which wasn't good so I just stopped using it.

You should always use ceramic never metal. Mine's lasted like a year and it's still working well. It was only like $20. I find it better to straighten hair with straightening balm, a round brush, and a blow dryer though. It's easier and makes your hair way prettier and less damanged. All the professionals do that.

^ Not everyone's hair can be straightened like that. In fact a lot of peoples hair can't be straightened and kept straight like that.
Anyways, I had one for about 6-7 months and the ceramic started wearing off, I didn't use it all the time, but it got used between me and occasionally my mom or sister...
It was pretty cheap though, about 40$ canadian.

The quality of the straighten, the health of your hair, the quality of the straightener evertyhing depends on the user.
Get a ceramic straigthener with teflon coating. Its better for your hair. Ive used a straighener thats just metal and my GHD and my 70 and they all work the same The only difference is the thickness of the plate and the heat.
Go for a straightener that goers to about 210 celcius. If you have thin hair set it on 120 medium thickness 140 thick 170 very thick 190. dont use 210 its too hot.
They say ceramic protects your hair better. Im not sure if its true but 99% of straighteners on the market (even the cheap ones) are ceramic and teflon coated also some have tourmaline. I find no difference inbetween the tourmaline and teflon. Its just another added thing.
If you want your hair straight for a long time what i do with my friends hair (she is a maori) I section it into thin sections straight it 2 - 3 times normal then pull it real tight straighten that twice do all the sections then straight it once more all together. Takes about 2 hours - lasts about 5 days.
Smoothness has got to dfo with the products you use, when and how much you use. Also if you blow dry it before or not.
if you have thick hair go for thick plates/. if your hair is reall long go for thick plates. if its just normal go for thin plates/ Thin ones give you nice curls aswell.
the products I use on my hair and my friends hair is this:
Before straighhtening (dont use a calm, mousse gel or hair spray it cooks onto the plates dirtying them and eats away at the coating) Dry your hair FULLY dry even if you get a wet to straight. You cant straighten wet hair.
Once your hair is wet put on a heat protectant spray. I use tresemme hair defence(7.95). Spray that on EVERY time you straighten it. Nothing else in your hair. This doesnt cook on theplates and my strsightener i have had for 2 years, use it every day and its in the same condition.
once its straightened use a serum. No matter the thickness of your hair a serum should last AT least 4 - 5 months. In my hair i use about a 5cent piece size, my friends hair (long thick and poofy) I use about a 20 cent piece size but i do it in 2 seperate times becausee it can make your hair greasy (serum is oil) This will get rid of fly aways, give it smoothness and shine makes it feel nice too. Im using Charles Worthington Sleek and Shine (14.95)
And then at the end I just use a finishing spray Im using a Got2B one its just a very light hair spray to set your hair. Use this everyday whilst your hair is straight. Mine is 16.95.
Dont use pnatene, sunsilk or furctis. They give a build up in your hair and are actually really bad for your hair. Mix up your products dont use all the same brands.

haha, thanks .
it helped. but not how i hoped. i just wanted to know if ceramic coated worked well.
uuhhh. kay. this thermal protection stuff. i see alote of people use it . im guessing its useful and dosent damage hair .. if you blow dry your hair. if i used that stuff before ( while its wet.. ) will my hair have less frizzies and will it be sleeker ? shiniey ? softer ? smoother ?
