Every day, new threads ridiculing weight pop up on this forum.
"Thin is sick!"
"Fat is ugly"
"You're unhealthy, you're ugly! soceity is being too tolerant with fat people! Fat people need to realize they are fat! "
So much importance is being put on other people's weight that half of YOU (yes YOU I am directing this at 90% of teenspot fashion-forum go-ers) have become anti-fat nazi's.
There is no tolerance for anyone's opinion but your own.
NEWSFLASH!!!! There are millions of teenagers suffering from obesity or eating disorders that have led to starvation, so this should point out THAT NO ONE GIVES A CRAP about your opinions.
I propose YOU start being a little more constructive towards "helping others out", and in the mean time, stop with the rants on how people should gain/lose weight.
If someone wants to be stick thin or overweight, then SO BE IT. I don't see what you get out of hounding these people with insults or self-righteous comments. JUST STOP.

I have nothing but sympathy for overweight/obese people.
I'm all for giving people the oppertunity to become healthy, and I think a lot of that has to do with better nutritional education (believe it or not, there are some people who don't realize it's not ok to guzzle soda all day and have a snack of poptarts regularly), and also provide more healthy options in casual dining and school cafeterias.
Nice thread.

You just debunked those who make self-righteous comments with your own. This is faux righteousness if i've ever seen it: you're either posting this to compensate for your own perceived weight problem or to prove yourself to the teenspot population. It's not a fucking public service message, it's a piece of insecurity inspired trash. You've managed to cite a nonsensical statistic that doesn't exist. It's like you majored in communications, but missed all of the basic classes.
Plus, you're wrong. Sure, eating disorders and obesity can both be described as diseases. But they're two of the most easily treated "diseases" which have the most commonsense cures. If those suffering don't take a step to fucking change it, why should they be defended? Do they deserve to be?
Chances are, if they're fat and they don't care what others think about that, they're not even impressed by your entry.

How is this faux self righteousness? Where do I claim my opinion over others. Where am I trying to impress people? Where do I mention my own weight problem? Where do I state my statistics are correct? If you had any sense you'd realize most statistics are pulled to prove an overall message whether they are correct or not, since we're not dealing with numbers here as a whole.
You're just full of presumptions, one being that I'm insecure with my own weight?

Yes, eating disorders can both be combated easily, this is why almost no one is obese or dies of an eating disorder, right? YOU'RE WRONG.

You don't have a tolerance for people's opinions, otherwise you wouldn't have told them to stop. You know what tolerance is? Tolerating something. To tolerate something, something has to be said. If it's not said, you don't have to tolerate it.
And since you were talking about tolerance for opinion, that's pretty ironic. You know, telling people without tolerance for hearing anyone elses opinion to shut up because you don't want to hear their opinion.

I have tolerance for other's POLITE OPINIONS. Tolerance does not mean that one must stand there while the other insults him or her. There's a huge line between being tolerant and being a pushover, one which you obviously do not see.
It's not ironic that I am telling people that if they are going to be rude they might as well shut up. I don't want to hear their opinions because they are rude, and while I am tolerant, and while many others are tolerant, they still reserve self respect. Tolerance does NOT mean one must tolerate insults. Please, prove me wrong.

You seem pretty keen on argumentation. Did you know that the original purpose of a debate and argument, since the time of Socrates, was to pursue a higher realization of the truth? You don't seem to understand this, considering you have quite apparently failed to present any evidence toward your cause, and when faced with a challenge of your own opinion, you respond by aimlessly attacking your percieved opposer. You are, through this poorly formed argument being self-righteous. You use terms like "you're wrong" and "deuches" (which isn't a real word, nonetheless incorrectly articulated) in your defense. Far too rash for a reasonable argument.
Statistics are not made to decieve. The whole argumentative and convincing point behind a statistic is that it's fact, and presents a safe piece of information to evaluate. They may be deceptively presented, but it's ILLEGAL for a commercial to run a proven incorrect statistic. If you agree with nothing else I have to say...I honestly hope you take that point to heart so as not to make the same mistake again.
You're not god. You posted a message and I replied. I'll agree, I'm attempting to debunk a great deal of your opinion. Fine. It's a message board...that's the place for debate. REAL debate.
Something else you may or may not agree with...ASSUMPTIONS (not presumptions, because it was based on somewhat of a solid idea from which I could derive an assumption) are a survival instinct. So is judgment. They're both tactical devices, and sometimes they fail. Maybe I was wrong, but I thought it was worth a shot. Know that I'm not trying to impress anyone else. I'm trying to debate with you. I disagree with many of your views. Shoot my ideas down as much as you want, but please do so in a way that we may continue our debate without taking anything too far to heart.
Also, self-righteousness is a strict and somewhat unwarranted sense of self assurance or qualification. Which, frankly, you do practically ooze of. It's honestly an attractive quality to me, but recognize that you exhibit it.

I am not being self righteous, I am simply telling people that rudeness isn't needed. "You're wrong" is what it is. People are WRONG in assuming their opinion is truth, and this isn't MY opinion it is a fact that people must divide FACTS from OPINIONS.

Actually, some disorders exist where the person doesn't feel full and can eat an immensive amount of food.
babies born with Prader-Willi Syndrome always feel hungry and they can eat to obvlivion. Basically, if they're allowed to eat whenever they get hungry, the would die within a short period of time because their hearts cannot sustain their weight. Oh, and they're not lazy or over-indulge, the disorder makes them feel as though they are starving at all times, and a natual reaction to starving is eating.

To fabricate a statistic is to change the nature of the word, in which case it is no longer a statistic. That's raw logical reasoning. Misrepresentation usually results in a lack of percieved credibility; don't fuck up your english papers through a lack of competency like so.

I can tell you're intelligent, but you're rash and lose your logic when facing pressure. Learn from that?
Je parle un peut de francais aussi, mais je ne sais pas qu'est une "deuche." Une DOUCHE, oui. Une "deuche," non. It's a fucking shower (kudos to anyone who can fully understand my casual french, or the hidden satire).
I'm done here. But here's a quick gem for you.
sta·tis·tic–noun

Okaaaaay. Here goes another lengthy explanation on the origins of the insult "deuche". Now, when spelled correctly, the english way of pronouncing it would sound mroe liek dowe-sh, rather than doo-sh. It is used as an insult because, in "full text" its usually said along with the word "bag", implying someone is, not literally though, a device used to clean a woman's private areas. I really don't see why we're arguing about this word.
I don't see the hidden sattire in saying "I too speak a little bit of french, and I don't know what a 'deuche' is, but a douche, yes". It's just re-iterating your arguement in another language.
Now, in english, we are crammed with the definition of hyperbole's, and unless you missed that chapter, you'd ralize that an exhagerated statistic in a non-research non-documentary paper is a hyperbole. It's a deviced used to get certain points across.
edit: Half the stuff I say may sound misleading but I have trouble writing arguements in english without getting my entire point across.

Hahah well girls sometimes try to be modest and put themseleves down so they come off as modest, but that's stupid. It's okay for girls to admit they're thin.
I mean, I don't think I'm fat. I know I'm a heavy girl though. There's no point in lyin about my weight. But that's because I've come a long way in accepting I wasn't born with that kind of body (the thin, slow-twitch-muscle body). It takes a lot for girls to realize that they don't have to be a certain pant size to be considered thin. I probably weigh more than half of the girls on this site, and my body fat % is moderately low, so it goes to show- body images in teenagers are distorted.

I agree, if you're extremely overweight and all you do is complain, then I have no sympathy for you. Do something about it.
I do have sympathy for people who have some kind of medical problem causing them to be extremely overweight or underweight (that includes eating disorders).
I say I'm fat...I'm not skinny, so it's not out of modesty. I work out and eat healthfully though.

Are you fat? or are you just not thin? I mean I weigh around 140 lbs, and my body fat % right now is at around 17%.

I guess I'm not fat, I'm just not thin either.
I have no idea what my body fat percentage is but I'm 5'7 and about the same weight as you.
I am modest, and I do look at myself as kind of fat. I hear from everyone else that I'm not fat...even though I think I am.

Yeah I doubt your fat if you work out enough. Even if you didn't, you wouldn't be FAT.

Yeah my school actually had a nutritionist come and they've stopped selling soda and a lot of the snacks they used to have in the student store. Ironically they still have pizza drenched in oil...
