Whats right or wrong is all based on personal opinion, no one can decide this for you. I believe that wearing animal skins are wrong ( but i'm also a PETA activist ). If you want to make an informative decision go to www.peta.org then go to videos and watch their video 'Chinese Fur Trade'. Most designers get their furs from China.

It's horrible to wear fur because they torture the animals. Animals that are killed for fur often suffer from being electructed, strangled, drowned shot, or beaten to death (like in baby seals).

Nop. Just because 1000 people stop wearing fur doesnt mean there going to stop killing animals does it? No. so the animals are going to continue dying so at least respect the animal and have it die for something.

If more people realise that animals are being harmed and cruelly treated just so that they can wear 'trendy' clothes, OBVIOUSLY they'll stop killing the animals for that purpose, you 'tard.
And yes, I think it's wrong. Seriously, killing animals for fashion!? The fuck is wrong with you?

just ebcause i dont share the same opinion as you doesnt mean im wrong :)
I will not ever wear animal fashion. I dont think it looks nice and the way they do it is cruel. Irecognise that but there is always going to be a demand. so animals are always going to be killed to supply the demand. weather its big or little there still going to kill 50 rabbits for one jacket. or 5 deer for 1 pair of boots or however they do it. there will always be a demand for it and rather than letting the animals die for no prupose why not use them.
its like veegtarians. No matter how against they are about eating meat people arent going to just stop slaughtering animals for meat because a minority doesnt want them slaughtered.

If you think it's not wrong to kill animals for clothes, then you are wrong.
And that's the point isn't it ... the more people realise that it's wrong, the more people will not want to wear it, and thus, the demand will decrease. And so, supply will decrease.
The eating of meat probably won't stop since it is a biological requirement for optimal health and is natural.
Slaughtering for fashion isn't. So there's no reason why it shouldn't stop. The two aren't even comparable.

Okay, well I really couldn't care less, I don't wear any fur so if they stopped killing animals it wouldn't affect me, but I don't care if they do or don't. I don't have any attachment to the animals, plus like I said, I don't wear any fur, my mom does, but I don't.

^^ stupid.if we arent buying the clothing then infact we arent supporting it. and we shouldnt care because it doesnt effect us. if one wnats to wear a certain clothing let them.
are you going to flip out at all the people who buy clothes from companies thta have kidsa doing the labor for them for a shit wage??
I find it horrible. Its not right. But if you're stuck somewhere in uber cold weather and have no other choice for warmth, then fine. No, its not the best thing -- but its the only way to survive.

No, I fucking will not "let them", what the fuck kind of ridiculously callous mentality is that?
Don't fucking tell me what or what not to do, you're disgusting. Fucked if I'm going to "let" people skin animals for no good reason other than fashion, without at least giving them an earful about it.
And no, I'm not going to flip out at people who buy clothes from companies that engage child labour, because I give not a shit about humanity.
Do you get it now? Fuck off.

ok wow, i'm not for it. Nor am i aggainst it. It's bad to kill animals for a coat yes. But look at the leather belt ur wearing, or the shoes your wearing. the chair your sitting on. The leather watch ur wearing, the necklace string. Humans have been dependent on animals for thousands of years. Those animals bred and killed for the use of fashion have nothing to live for. They have no Babies to feed, nor no nest took take care of. They were born, raised, and killed in the name of fashion. Whether or not that's wrong people will still do it. I agree with saosin strongly. Just because u say don't, people will still kill the animals. Humans are cruel, stubburn, mean, unrealistic and inhumane. (if that's not an oxymoron, inhumane human. lol) it's just a fact of life, get over it. This world is unfair, and cruel...get over it, live with it. Just like those animals have too. Although they know nothing of the world. All they know is birth and death. That's all they're there for. And those people who through paint on fur coats are IDIOTS. Your not going to save an animal by ruining the dead animals fur. If anything it would just make the person u threw the paint on go buy another coat. It's like people who are against abortion, fine be against it. Your not going to change my mind. People like that are stubburn, and annoying. If you don't like abortion don't do it, if you don't like killing animals for fur coats, i suggest u don't go into the taxidermy business. If ur against fur coats, be against it, but u don't have to try and convince the world that ur right, And often times people who r like that constantly have to be right, and even if they're wrong they have to prove that they're right, even if it's an opinion they have to be right. And this whole thing is an opinion. Like being gay/lesbian, For gay marriage, against abortion, against fur coats, and fur trade and so on, against stem cell research, against cloning. It's all a matter of opinion, and people who r so opinionized they have to be right, have to realise they can't fucking convince everyone, But often times they can't accept that so they get angry, then denfensive till they finally give up. Then what have they acomplished? nothing! fucking nothing! They wasted time, they could have spent collecting and donating food, or volunteering actually helping a cause. Honestly this is a bad thing to bring up for people, because people are so opinionised they can't accept anything but what they have to say. All i have to say: fuck it! be who u wanna be and think what u wanna think, i have my own way of thinking that ur not going to change.

We really don't need to do it anymore. If we were uncivilized, killing an animal for its fur to keep warm would be perfectly natural and moral. But doing it for fashion's sake is dumb.

Absolutely, unless they're ferrets in which case it's fine.
Fur coats generally look absolutely terrible in my opinion anyway, real or not.

Do you not realize how much time you just wasted stating your opinion on other people stating their opinions? If you're really so against people talking about this subject then when did you check out this thread? And thats the kind of pessamistic attitude that makes things like skinning animals alive keep happening. Every single person that decides this is wrong will make a difference, nobody is insignificant. And do you really know enough of these people to judge and say that they're all "angry and defensive"? to me it sounds like thats how your being.

only if the meat was used as well, would a bit of a waste. We are animals too and we were meant to eat both plants and animals and why not use their fur for our colthing? just as long as we don't hunt purely for fur and cause extinction its ok. and its done in a humane way.

( I know this thread is starting to get old now but... ) All animals are used for different things, hardly ever do they use animals for their fur and their meat. They get fed different products for different outcomes. Animals that are used for meat, get used for meat, animals that are used for fur, get used for fur, and animals that are bred to feed other animals, well, you get the picture. When slaughtering an animal for its meat it does to much damange to their skin and fur to use it for any type of clothing. Most animals that get used for their fur are skinned alive so that their fur stays intact. Nobody wants a dead cow skin jacket with a stitching right in the front now do they? :rider:

Same thing that's going on with me.
And I cannot see the use of fur being stopped. It's been happening since the cave men. [if i'm wrong, don't flame me til death or something]

I would never buy animal-material clothes. Meat for food is one thing. Sheeps for a pair of Uggs or a cow for some tacky coat is another. I don't bitch people out for wearing animal fur/skin, but if people bring it up, I'm not afraid to give my opinion on it. I think it's ridiculously shallow and stupid.

Obviously. But the thing is, tons of places DO kill animals purely for the fur/skin. And the usage of fur IS causing extinction in species like Chinchillas (sp?!) and probably other ones. And a lot of times, it's not done in a humane way.
I'm not specifically saying this to you, but just in general.

Clothing will NEVER stop having animals products in it. most shoes have leather, leather jackets are really popular, leather furniture is everywhere. What I want to see happen which I dont think it to far out of reach is high fashion industries to stop using fur. Every step counts. In January 2006 the NBA stopped using leather in their basketballs and are using only synthetics. Polo Ralph Lauren stoped using furs in his clothing line. Wet Seal is not selling furs this season and still considering whether or not to stop all together. J.Crew, H&M, Forever 21, Gap, Banana Republic, and Ann Taylor. If theres that many designers that have stopped now, we can keep this going. We may not be able to stop everyone but some is better then none right? Some of the designers that have stopped are at the highest end of retail fashion. And also we all know that peoples opinions are inflicted by celebrities right? well... Pamela Anderson just about got sued, and then just about sued back when a car that she ordered came with leather seats. Other celebrities against animal cruelty are Pink, rapper Dead Prez, Model Sara Jones, Fall out boy, Pamela anderson, the Beastie Boys, Good Charlotte, Jet, Playmate Lauren Anderson, The Notebook star Ryan Gosling, Bea Arthur, Goldfinger, Paul McCartney, Richard Pryor, Black Eyed Peas, THe Darkness, Tommy Lee, and Black Sabeths Geezer Butler. Even the current Dalai Lama of tibet( His Holyness the 14th) is supporting this. It might seem like this will never change, but for every one person that says it wont and doesn't help do something about it, theres another chance gone. It all depends on how much people realize whats acctually going on and how much they really care. I will NEVER fight to turn the world vegeterian, just the cruelty to stop.

I think the only time it's acceptable is when using wool because you're not technically harming or killing the sheep, and the wool will grow back. I would love it if animals were used for more than one thing, like cleadus said, but most of the time that's not the case, sadly. I guess I kindof feel like a hypocrite in this thread though, because if we shouldn't kill animals for their fur or skin, why should we kill them for food when there are plenty of better things we could eat instead? It's just sad that people are so dependent on the products of killing animals, to me.

Heeeyyy! I have an idea! Lets start harvesting children and using their fur and skin for jackets, torture them while we kill them, and skin them alive. I mean, all animals are in competition with each other and we are at the TOP Of the FOOD CHAIN so why not? we're just animals... I'm sure people would mind if they're little sisters and children were brutally murdered so that everyone could have a fashionable "baby butt" jacket.
