it all depends on the overall condition of the car. i wouldnt be too concerned about the mileage for that price. those cars will last, so i think your good there

Yuck. I've avoid it because #1: it's a boxster, and if it's not a Boxster S, it'll go more like a porch than a Porsche. #2: At also 200,000 miles, something is GOING to break eventully, and it's going to be expensive when it does.

170k? walk away, FAST. I wouldn't breathe on that thing.

Caravan: if it were a sweet 911 for that kinda money, it'd be well worth it still. The 911's are rock-solid reliable (mainly because Porsche has been making them for about a million years). Thats only a 2nd year Boxster though, not sure how reliable they are. Still 10K sounds a little steep for something with that many miles even if it is a Porsche.

Watch him buy it and take it to the dealer a week later and find out it needs $15k worth of work.

So what, GM's been making the Corvette forever and I wouldn't buy one with 170k on it.

They might be reliable, but what if it goes in for suspension work? You will get RAPED at a dealership, and I have yet to see an independent garage work on a newer porsche

yea, maybe if it was in pristine conditon nd you had some extra cash laying around, then I would

anyways I got a 1984 corvette with 96k miles on it for 8grand Nd I have yet to see a thing go wrong with it I rebuilt the motor so its a 404 big block nd put new interior in (black leather) cuz that wasnt that good But then again I got lucky lol freinds dad owned the dealership that had it nd he said it was ok so I guess w/e floats ur boat l

Corvette is not a Porsche.

On that thought, the 350 is more solid than any Porsche engine.

In my opinion... which has seen many Porsche/BMW/Mercedes in its short years... No, no, and.... no.
Those engines are precisely tuned and engineered. Sadly to say... at 170k miles on those engines... its ready to cough its last breath. Those early boxters are also notorious for engine blocks that crack. Since you're obviously way past warranty... when it happens (not IF)... you'll have a $10,000 lawn ornament. If you want a flashy car, with high mileage... go Japanese.... maybe an Audi. Of all German cars... Audi will be the one that will take the least out of your pocket at high-mileage. In terms of parts, Audi is much easier to find and cheaper than BMW or Mercedes.

Hope I didn't find this thread too late :D
