I'd like to order my prom dress early, so I have time to make any adjustments I need to make... and because I know I'll be horribly stressed during the spring term, and prom will only make it worse.

I'm seriously considering this (http://www.loralie.com/ProductDetailPages/Dresses/7451.html) dress -- in fact, I love it. It's my style. However, I'm pretty pale (http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k151/LisaMarieRose/lisa.jpg), and tanning is not an option -- I'm quite Irish and would only burn, and spray tans are no good, either.

Would this look absolutely horrible on me? I have dark brown hair, if it makes a difference.

I need some tips on what color to wear, really. I like green a lot, and I prefer not to wear black and/or white, as they both stand out too starkly.

Sorry the picture is in shadow. :\ It's all I have on this computer.

why would prom make you stressed? you can't be THAT ugly that you have to plan how you look this far in advance, and you'll probably be too wasted on prom night to care about how you look, haha.

also, i think that dress is a little too wedding for prom - you'll scare your date. he'll think you want to be engaged! go for a pretty tourquoise. it will bring out your gorgeous complexion without emphasizing your skin's bluish undertones that are more easily perceptible in pale skin. and it's very springy.
(and best of all, with the sudden appearance of all the rich blues and navy's, turquoise is sure to be next spring's IT color, and you'll have had it in your prom dress 4 months before everyone else!!)

dont order it early. shop around in shops. ordering off the internet can be disastrous and alot of the time they look nothing alike. also, if you find you order it early by the time your balll gets there youll be so over the dress its not funny.

as for colours, i think you could pull off any colour especially like a fire engine red.

I have quite a heavy course load second term, and worrying about finding a dress, making reservations, booking a limo etc. on top of school work isn't fun.

Also, I don't plan on getting wasted.

I'm not going with a date, I'm going with friends. It doesn't look very weddingish too me, especially because it's... well... green.

I don't really care for turquoise. But maybe the right shade...

I'm very set on ordering the dress early. I'm rather short, and I'm set on a ballgown-type dress, so it's going to have to be hemmed. I live in a small town, and it's definitely going to take a while to a) find someone to hem it/take it in and b) for that person to get it done.

Also, I kind of want to order it early so I can send it back if it doesn't fit at all or does look horrible. It should look like it's supposed to; my friends have ordered from this site before, and they've been satisfied, and everything matched up that I saw.

It's not the early ordering that's in question -- it's colors.

Red, huh? Hmm... I never really considered red, but perhaps I will. Maybe for graduation...

well... if you set on a particular dress why dont you go to your local frabic shop or dress shop and just try on different colours to see what suits you best. dont have any intentions of buying the dresses in there just go for an idea on colours

the dress looks white. and how do you know you're not going with a date? maybe you'll get asked.
and green is a bad color on you. in that pic it makes you look sick.

We don't really have a local dress shop, but next time I go to the city I'll probably try a few on.

I may not order the dress until around Christmas; we'll see.

The dress looks white? It's certainly green... I'm not going with a date because the only guys I would go with won't ask, and anyway, it doesn't really matter if I have a date or not -- either way, the dress doesn't look weddingish. And it wouldn't bother anyone, IMHO.

Green makes me look sick? Hmm... that's new to me. Maybe it's the crappy digital photograph? I have a professional photo of that dress, with actual proper lighting and such; I'll have to scan it. I was under the impression I looked best in green, but I could be wrong.

I'm hesitant to wear green only because that's the only color dress I've ever worn -- to prom in '05, and to a military ball. I didn't go to prom this year, though, I was out of the country. :\

Definetly browse the internet for awhile, you might change your mind in a few months or find something you love even more.

If i were you I would go with a new color you never wore, but go with what you want.

I didnt even have a fucking prom. Instead I had to fucking march around for 2 hours. Stop complaining and be thankful for what you already have.

You girls who live in USA have no idea how cheap your prom dresses are.

Haha. Yeah I got that alot.

But white is my favorite color.

Yeah my dress was cheap. $256. Not bad.

Edit -- Funny how my dress is bridal like. I had the best dress o_o. But eh, I dunno. I just love big poofy fancy dresses ^_^. But yeah, I had princess and bridal comments all night long haha.

I'm not going with a date because the only guys I would go with won't ask,

...how do you know they won't? Is it because they haven't yet? Cuz... it's all of October. No high school guy is gonna get his shit together til like 2 weeks before the prom.

I also don't see the big deal with fancy, pricey prom dresses. My brother's date got her dress custom made, but then it turned out looking exactly like one from a store. And girls make SUCH a big deal about not having the same dress as anyone else... whatever, who cares.

I haven't even thought about prom yet and don't plan to until about April. But I have considered just going to a vintage clothing store and getting like a 40s-style dress. Cuz that's about the only style I can see me wearing, I think 40s fashion is so nice. And it won't be that expensive.

The only worries I have for prom are convincing my bf to go in the first place (he just turned 24, high school proms... not so much his thing) and that I haven't worn a dress since I was 9. Both of those can be dealt with in the spring, I can't even make myself care right now.
