I was wondering if anyone has something like a movie club at their school?

In my drama class, we're constantly talking about movies. Classics, new releases, everything. I ran the idea by them, they loved it. Then a few other kids outside of drama heard and thought it was an awesome idea.

So if you do have a movie club, or just have any ideas to contribute on starting one or making it more interesting, I'm open. The idea is good, I'm just a little blank when it comes to actually what to do.

Here's a short list of my favorite ideas/ subject to change

-Have frequent trips to see new movies

-Pick a 'Movie of the Month' of a different category for each month and have a 'Best of the Best' at the end of the year

had one going for a while at my old high school, mostly people just wanted to watch movies they had already seen and most were awful, but i managed to show some important films, get one or two discussions going about certain films, stuff like that. the point of a film club is too watch important films and have open discussion about them afterward, keep that in mind. a bunch of friends getting together to watch rocky horror picture show or army of darkness is awsome, but it's real key to show the seven samurai and then discuss classism and the films influence on domestic cinema, or citizen kane, and discuss what Orson Welles was trying to accomplish with the ending.

We have Film Society. I don't know what they do, I'm not in it. But apparently they watch movies and eat food.

I wish we had one, I don't know anyone but myself who's into movies.

We have a film society too, but I was asking around the group and nobody knew anything about films, so I decided against joining.

Instead, my flatmates and I are just going to start our own weekly night where everyone just sits in somebody's room, gets stoned and watches a few decent films.

me and a buddy have something similiar. we and some others sit at his house, smoke some pot and grab some munchies, then gather before his huge TV and we watch maybe two or three films every saturday night assuming there's no parties or such to go too. the idea is that we both have very different tastes in film, and we make eachother watch some of our culty favorites in an attempt to broaden our horizons.

he got me into Lost in Translation,

i got him into Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I'd love to be in a film club, love discussing movies! There used to be one in school, I didn't have time to join it last year, was hoping to this year, but the teacher who ran it has left so... The thing I feel doubtful about if another one is started is to whether people will actually talk about films or just muck about the whole time.

from what I hear film societies are there for the sake of nothingness. I think I'll just stick to my daily drama discussions

Our school has a film club, but as far as I know they don't do all that much. I somehow doubt that they have deep and meaningful dicussions, considering one of the movies they watched last year was The Muppets' Christmas Carol =/
