This question is pretty self-explanatory. What is the most original movie you've seen, and what made it so original?

Donnie Darko. The plot is not something that has been done 5,000,000 times and the movie actually forces the viewer to think.

Donnie Darko...the movie actually forces the viewer to think.
Does it really? There's a difference between being a thought provoking film and just trying to confuse the world.
I know it's not amazingly original, but just for the spin on everything, ETOTSM - most realistic view on relationships anyone will ever see.

Emm, I'm not really sure... I thought Sin City's style was pretty cool, but as far as storyline goes, I'm really not sure. I could say something then change my mind in 10 minutes time, so for now, I shall say that Resevoir Dogs was quite original, a used and abused theme for a movie, a bank robbery, pulled off in a very different way.
Baraka. a languageless film that's purpose is to tell the oldest story of all time, but one that is very rarely told- the story of earth and it's people, our diversity and similiarities and how they intertwine, if they ever send a film into space for an alien race to find, this will be it. with the use of ambient music and images alone, it manages to capture everything an alien would need to know about the earth and it's people within 2 hours, not to mention it's fucking stunning.

Why do people think that Fight Club was original? The book was practically a Copeland rippoff.

Good Burger.
& crash.
jesus, some of you people need to watch more movies before you go calling something original, i mean, Waking Life, Being John Malcovich, Eternal Sunshine, Memento, and even Punch Drunk Love are all great choices.
but Friday? Good Burger? CRASH?! now im not gonna knock crash, because i really liked it, but there are like, a billion movies just like it: Traffic, Magnolia, these are big films that follow the same story telling style, and frankly the issue of racism in LA has been dealt with many times too, perhaps not as well as in Crash, but still, we arent talking about merrit here, were talking about originality.
