Who here can sit through a show filled with canned laughter?? Can anyone handle it? Personally, I f*cking hate canned laughter and it ruins a show completely.

yupyup. its shite, it wouldnt be too bad if they changed it a bit. but it always starts with the smae laugh and ends abruptly.

shows with it ... those thigs where pets do stupid things, stuff like that.

It always sounds like 'cheers' and 'friends' have canned laughter but they are filmed in front of a live audience... i dno maybe they add it in at the end if people didnt laugh in the right places

no on those shows, they have a sign above the set, that flashes when they need to laugh

Yea it's annoying as hell. Like, someone bends over to grab something and you hear a "HAHAHAHAHAHA" from the fucking audience. HOW is something like that funny? Is it only the American shows that do it?

I hate it when the audience whistles when people kiss. you've never seen a kiss before?

Or they go "oooooo" when you see someone smoking a joint or someone having an fight.

Yeah, its annoying and fake. It needs to be axed. They also do canned cheering on the british lottery show, which is MEGA fake! :mad:

I think its primarily American shows that do it... i cant say i can recall hearing canned laughter on british comedy shows... but i dunno? :shrug:

That's why I love Scrubs, and The Office.

It's stupid and pointless, but it doesn't bother me that much.
It does seem a bit like they think they have to tell us when to laugh, which is patronising.

I find it difficult to watch television with canned laughter. That 70's Show is the only canned laughter sitcom I can watch.

argh, I completely agree! I can't stand canned laughter. Some of the biggest offenders are American kid shows, like 'That's so Raven' 'The Amanda Show' and 'All That'. I'm pretty sure no British sitcoms do that though ... can't be cetain however. I love Black Books - funniest show!
