You heard me!
Universe In A Teacup
Cause it’s a funny old time in our world
It’s a curious cup of tea
Looking for adventurous people
And turning to a skeleton key
Climbing over bricks and mortar
Moving things right out of the way
The sunlight always seemed like an old friend
That never found a place to stay
She’s running on the edge of the cloud
She’s leaving but she’ll get here soon
She’s looking for a silver lining
She’s going to a different tune
You know I’d feel like I love to
Be on a ship with no sail or crew
I think I think I’d love to
Because you’re candy crazy and I’m falling for you
It’s a pretty old time in our world
It’s a great time to be alive
Living life in the deep end
But being too afraid to dive
She pushes you into the water
Laughs a bit, then sighs
Drowning, flailing, guess I’m saying that
It’s all so high.
Look at her off on the horizon
Look at her on Cloud 9
Look at her, she’s amazing
Tell me can you read the signs?
You know I’d feel like I love to
Climb a mountain, feel the morning dew
I think I think I’d love to
Because you’re copycat crazy and I’m falling for you
It’s a wonderful time in our world
Just the two of us, and how
How great it is to be together
With someone like you now
And just because the night is over
Doesn’t mean the night is through
Because when the sun comes out of hiding
I want to see it with you.
I’d never ever think of tomorrow
It’s just too far away
I’d never ever think of anything
Except perhaps today.
You know I’d feel like I love to
Pull back my hair and say it’s true
I think I think I’d love to
Because you’re colorful crazy and I’m falling for you
Message In A Bottle
Starting the fire wouldn’t help you at all
All it does is make you smoke
You couldn’t call this living when you’re living your life
Like it’s all just a terrible joke
You’re hopeless you know? Hopelessly devoted
And apparently we’re all the same
But nobody could care, because we’re breathing the air
Not like we’ll take all of the blame.
You think that you’ll be isolated?
Like this till the end of your days?
Stop whining to me, and lie back on your pillow
Go back to sleep I say
Never started the fire, started anything
And now it’s beginning to show.
All those chances you had, all those times in the past
Did you ever hope to grow?
Message in a bottle, message in fire
Came from the fountain of youth
You still age I say, so turn the page I say
Till you find out the whole truth.
You think that you’ll be really tired?
Slacking till you hit the hay?
Stop pleading with me, and lie back on your pillow
Go back to sleep I say
The ash from the fire’s started turning to black
Everything’s come crashing down
Pushed the dominoes over, now there’s no turning back
It’s gone all over town
Everybody will shiver, everybody will shake
Since you’ve gone against the flow
So many lines to take, so many minds to break
And you’ve got so far to go
You think you’ll be emancipated?
Get the chance to do it your way?
Just listen to me, and lie back on your pillow
Go back to sleep I say
Propagandist
Slowly down into my arms
Is a girl with greyish hair.
She whispers, and she laughs out loud
Like her voice is everywhere.
I look at her, into those eyes
There’s only black to see.
A pupil of another world
A world that just can’t be.
She talked about what could have been
And how we could have learned
To listen to those lullabies
Ones not to be discerned.
But still we dream, and think about
All the words put in our heads.
I never thought I’d see the day
We’d run straight to our beds.
Perhaps this girl is crazy
I really do not know.
Don’t sit and stare, I don’t even care
The way the green grass grows.
She’s got us all encapsulated
In ways we can’t explain.
I think we’ve all been figured out
In ways so preordained.
How could we be so foolish?
How could we be so blind?
How could we be so innocent
To fall so far behind?
Perhaps this girl is savage
I’d shudder just to think.
She’s lying to me, we all agree
And it makes my young heart sink.
Perhaps this girl is evil
A sadist, through and through.
In so fast, but it couldn’t last
This girl has poisoned you.
If only day would turn to night
We’d all be silhouettes.
I’d go back home, but nobody’s home
We’re all marionettes.
I don’t think I have feeling.
I don’t think I have sight.
To die, to live, to take, to give
All gives me such a fright.
Perhaps this girl is different
Only misunderstood.
I’d love to spend my life with her
It would do me some good.
Shiver And A Smile
A girl turned up on my doorstep
She hadn’t heard much that day
She hadn’t heard much in forever
The music never entered the fray
The girl was tired, and tattered
I let her use my bed
I wouldn’t take no for an answer
The floor was enough for my head
And so I got up in the morning
And my neck felt really bad
Got my guitar, and I played out a bar
Only thing that I had had
I don’t think she ever got it
Or if she knew all along
But I’m sure she was interested
So come over here, and you can hear out my song
Did you want me to play you a song?
After all, it’s all that I could do all along
Sit back on my hands, and let the music get out
With a shiver and a smile and a laugh and a shout
Did you want me to play you a tune?
I’ll start it up now, but I’ll be leaving soon
So take a step to the left, and then a step to the right
I guess that you’ll be dancing on every night
She got the words down so fast
I thought that it wouldn’t last
But I was pleasantly surprised
When she wouldn’t quit
With a smile on her lips, and a kick in her hips
She was singing for seconds, she was loving it
Did you want me to play you a song?
After all, it’s all that I could do all along
Sit back on my hands, and let the music get out
With a shiver and a smile and a laugh and a shout
Did you want me to play you a tune?
Catchy as hell, but I’ll be leaving soon
So take a step to the left, and then a step to the right
I guess that you’ll be singing on every night
Prospector
Sometimes people just don’t ask
The questions that will make you tick.
If ever someone wants to know
Just tell them that they make you sick.
They don’t have a business there!
So who are they to judge, compare?
No matter what they ask of you
Just lie, it’s what you always do.
What you want is a time and a half
Something to make you laugh out loud
What you need is a whole new aspect
Why won’t you think of the prospect?
Keep on going in your way,
It’s not like people even care.
They won’t give you time of day
Oh, isn’t life unfair?
But watch, in wonder and in awe
As others interact.
Could you be a part of them?
You can’t, and that’s a fact.
What you want is a leash on life,
A way to keep things in your grasp.
What you need is a whole new aspect
Why won’t you think of the prospect?
Eating your elevenses
With dignity and grace.
A beacon of benevolence
Shines right beyond your face.
But here’s a story that you know
It’s bound in black and blue.
A story of a treasured friend
Who life simply outgrew.
What you want is vineyards green,
To sit on the fence, be inbetween.
What you need is a whole new aspect
Why won’t you think of the prospect?
