You heard me!

Universe In A Teacup

Cause it’s a funny old time in our world
It’s a curious cup of tea
Looking for adventurous people
And turning to a skeleton key

Climbing over bricks and mortar
Moving things right out of the way
The sunlight always seemed like an old friend
That never found a place to stay

She’s running on the edge of the cloud
She’s leaving but she’ll get here soon
She’s looking for a silver lining
She’s going to a different tune

You know I’d feel like I love to
Be on a ship with no sail or crew
I think I think I’d love to
Because you’re candy crazy and I’m falling for you

It’s a pretty old time in our world
It’s a great time to be alive
Living life in the deep end
But being too afraid to dive

She pushes you into the water
Laughs a bit, then sighs
Drowning, flailing, guess I’m saying that
It’s all so high.

Look at her off on the horizon
Look at her on Cloud 9
Look at her, she’s amazing
Tell me can you read the signs?

You know I’d feel like I love to
Climb a mountain, feel the morning dew
I think I think I’d love to
Because you’re copycat crazy and I’m falling for you

It’s a wonderful time in our world
Just the two of us, and how
How great it is to be together
With someone like you now

And just because the night is over
Doesn’t mean the night is through
Because when the sun comes out of hiding
I want to see it with you.

I’d never ever think of tomorrow
It’s just too far away
I’d never ever think of anything
Except perhaps today.

You know I’d feel like I love to
Pull back my hair and say it’s true
I think I think I’d love to
Because you’re colorful crazy and I’m falling for you

Message In A Bottle

Starting the fire wouldn’t help you at all
All it does is make you smoke
You couldn’t call this living when you’re living your life
Like it’s all just a terrible joke
You’re hopeless you know? Hopelessly devoted
And apparently we’re all the same
But nobody could care, because we’re breathing the air
Not like we’ll take all of the blame.

You think that you’ll be isolated?
Like this till the end of your days?
Stop whining to me, and lie back on your pillow
Go back to sleep I say

Never started the fire, started anything
And now it’s beginning to show.
All those chances you had, all those times in the past
Did you ever hope to grow?
Message in a bottle, message in fire
Came from the fountain of youth
You still age I say, so turn the page I say
Till you find out the whole truth.

You think that you’ll be really tired?
Slacking till you hit the hay?
Stop pleading with me, and lie back on your pillow
Go back to sleep I say

The ash from the fire’s started turning to black
Everything’s come crashing down
Pushed the dominoes over, now there’s no turning back
It’s gone all over town
Everybody will shiver, everybody will shake
Since you’ve gone against the flow
So many lines to take, so many minds to break
And you’ve got so far to go

You think you’ll be emancipated?
Get the chance to do it your way?
Just listen to me, and lie back on your pillow
Go back to sleep I say

Propagandist

Slowly down into my arms
Is a girl with greyish hair.
She whispers, and she laughs out loud
Like her voice is everywhere.

I look at her, into those eyes
There’s only black to see.
A pupil of another world
A world that just can’t be.

She talked about what could have been
And how we could have learned
To listen to those lullabies
Ones not to be discerned.

But still we dream, and think about
All the words put in our heads.
I never thought I’d see the day
We’d run straight to our beds.

Perhaps this girl is crazy
I really do not know.
Don’t sit and stare, I don’t even care
The way the green grass grows.

She’s got us all encapsulated
In ways we can’t explain.
I think we’ve all been figured out
In ways so preordained.

How could we be so foolish?
How could we be so blind?
How could we be so innocent
To fall so far behind?

Perhaps this girl is savage
I’d shudder just to think.
She’s lying to me, we all agree
And it makes my young heart sink.

Perhaps this girl is evil
A sadist, through and through.
In so fast, but it couldn’t last
This girl has poisoned you.

If only day would turn to night
We’d all be silhouettes.
I’d go back home, but nobody’s home
We’re all marionettes.

I don’t think I have feeling.
I don’t think I have sight.
To die, to live, to take, to give
All gives me such a fright.

Perhaps this girl is different
Only misunderstood.
I’d love to spend my life with her
It would do me some good.

Shiver And A Smile

A girl turned up on my doorstep
She hadn’t heard much that day
She hadn’t heard much in forever
The music never entered the fray

The girl was tired, and tattered
I let her use my bed
I wouldn’t take no for an answer
The floor was enough for my head

And so I got up in the morning
And my neck felt really bad
Got my guitar, and I played out a bar
Only thing that I had had

I don’t think she ever got it
Or if she knew all along
But I’m sure she was interested
So come over here, and you can hear out my song

Did you want me to play you a song?
After all, it’s all that I could do all along
Sit back on my hands, and let the music get out
With a shiver and a smile and a laugh and a shout

Did you want me to play you a tune?
I’ll start it up now, but I’ll be leaving soon
So take a step to the left, and then a step to the right
I guess that you’ll be dancing on every night

She got the words down so fast
I thought that it wouldn’t last
But I was pleasantly surprised
When she wouldn’t quit
With a smile on her lips, and a kick in her hips
She was singing for seconds, she was loving it

Did you want me to play you a song?
After all, it’s all that I could do all along
Sit back on my hands, and let the music get out
With a shiver and a smile and a laugh and a shout

Did you want me to play you a tune?
Catchy as hell, but I’ll be leaving soon
So take a step to the left, and then a step to the right
I guess that you’ll be singing on every night

Prospector

Sometimes people just don’t ask
The questions that will make you tick.
If ever someone wants to know
Just tell them that they make you sick.

They don’t have a business there!
So who are they to judge, compare?
No matter what they ask of you
Just lie, it’s what you always do.

What you want is a time and a half
Something to make you laugh out loud
What you need is a whole new aspect
Why won’t you think of the prospect?

Keep on going in your way,
It’s not like people even care.
They won’t give you time of day
Oh, isn’t life unfair?

But watch, in wonder and in awe
As others interact.
Could you be a part of them?
You can’t, and that’s a fact.

What you want is a leash on life,
A way to keep things in your grasp.
What you need is a whole new aspect
Why won’t you think of the prospect?

Eating your elevenses
With dignity and grace.
A beacon of benevolence
Shines right beyond your face.

But here’s a story that you know
It’s bound in black and blue.
A story of a treasured friend
Who life simply outgrew.

What you want is vineyards green,
To sit on the fence, be inbetween.
What you need is a whole new aspect
Why won’t you think of the prospect?

C-? Aww.

Well, at least you made the time, unlike everyone else!

New poem!

Emily Rose

Emily Rose, I wish you were here
You’re the only one who listens to me.
Emily Rose, I hope that you know
That I have never ever been to the sea.

But I’ve been to the sand, and I’ve been to the shore
And I’ve been everywhere else in the world before
And I’ve climbed up a tree, and I’ve sat in a park
Till the night grew cold, and the sky got dark.

Emily Rose
Oh, Emily Rose
God only knows why you went away.

Emily Rose, maybe you understand
You understood better than anyone.
Emily Rose, are you feeling OK?
I hope that you are having fun.

Cause it’s been quite a while, since I’ve seen you smile
You laid in my bed so innocently
And we rolled on the carpets, and laid on the floor
And we talked for hours staying up until four.

Emily Rose
Oh, Emily Rose
God only knows why you went away.

Emily Rose, why did you have to go?
I still hear every word that you said.
Emily Rose, you’re just like a flower
That’s dying in my flowerbed.

But I remember the times, all the good and the bad.
And how we can’t do it over, and how that is sad.
Cause when I think about all the fun that we’ve had
I think I love you all the more

Emily Rose
Oh, Emily Rose
God only knows why you went away.

Duly noted, new song now!

Chainletter

Learning how to scrape the ceiling
Learning how to sit up straight
You know, I think I love you but
I think you’ll have to wait.

Learning how to paint the ceiling
Learning how to fly
I never wanted to be better
But still I want to try.

And I’m kissing you to death,
And I’m kissing you to death.
It’s hard to make a living when
It’s hard to draw a breath.

So lay me down and never let me in again.
I need you to say that you won’t break the chain.

Learning about birds & brambles
Learning about thorny sides
Pretty sure we’ll all feel better
When I’m not making strides.

Learning why I never took you
Learning why you’re more benign
You know that you make me quiver
Well, maybe it’s a sign.

And I’m kissing you to death,
And I’m kissing you to death.
It’s hard to make a living when
It’s hard to draw a breath.

So lay me down and never let me in again.
I need you to say that you won’t break the chain.

Did you ever drink or swallow?
Did you ever hold my hand?
I remember times when
You made it hard to stand.

Can you think, or will I do it?
Can you even think at all?
If you lay me down forever
Back yourself against a wall.

And I’m kissing you to death,
And I’m kissing you to death.
It’s hard to make a living when
It’s hard to draw a breath.

So lay me down and never let me in again.
I need you to say that you won’t break the chain.

New song!

"The Give And The Take"

Lying on the carpet
And you want me to feed you
You’re ever so hopeful
You need me to need you.

Lying on the bathroom floor
With tiles that surround you
You won’t need those glasses
Now that I’ve found you.

Speaking on a pedestal
You’re so high above me
I guess it’s no surprise
You push and shove me.

Speaking on your hands and knees
You kiss the ground I walk on
There are so many of you
It’s time to shock one.

Hey!
I am not an animal
I am not a criminal
I disagree

Hey!
I am not an only child
I am not the black sheep
I am just me.

Giving what you’ve taken from me
I am holier than thou
Never try and step towards me
Like you’re doing now.

Giving people what they ask for
You will do as you are told
Even if it hurts all over
Cry, it’s worth its weight in gold.

Hey!
I am not an animal
I am not a criminal
I disagree

Hey!
I am not an only child
I am not the black sheep
I am just me.

And I never wanted to see you again
And I never wanted to see you this way again
And I never wanted to see you, or tell you this
But it’s true, I can’t get enough of you

Sorry for the brief, lame-ass comment but I'm desperate to get my posts up here. :)

"A Walk In The Park"

The streetlights all have power now
They used to flicker out.
The path was grey, and I’d always say
That I just can’t go without.

The footpath was so menacing
I didn’t know where I’d go.
It’s a walk in the park, and a shot in the dark
To a place neither of us know.

When nighttime comes to welcome you
Can’t recognise its face.
Time to lose the attitude
And put you in your place.

I scream out like it’s midnight
The clock strikes out a chord.
At least you kept my eyes wide open
At least now I’m not bored.

The branches that hang overhead
Are twisted out of shape.
I guess this is the perfect chance
To make my own escape.

And as the morning comes around
The birds cry out in tune.
I wonder if they’re chirping at me
Or chirping at the moon.

While a good point, I like music.

Speaking of which:

"Sandcastles"

The birds in the trees
And I can see them.
But I guess they’re hard to miss.

The sand on the beach,
Well it’s so easy to reach.
And still, there’s nothing quite like this.

The sun and the sand, and there’s a hand in my hand
It’s you.
The sea and the shore, I think I’ve got a repoire
With you.

We’re just like a sandcastle
That’s right near the ocean
And the tide is rising
But I’ve got me a notion
We should stay
Even if the sun gets in our way.

The rocks in the distance
But I don’t care.
Because I’d never feel like looking away.

The moon getting higher
I think there’s a shark!
Either way, I’m gonna stay with you until it gets dark.

The grass and the wave, makes it hard to behave
With you.
The flags in the towers, I could lay here for hours
With you.

We’re just like a sandcastle
That’s right near the ocean
And the tide is rising
But I’ve got me a notion
We should stay
Even if the sun gets in our way.

"Mist & Vapour"

I’m in the ocean again
And all I can feel is you
I’m knee deep in something, somewhere
I know you can see it too

Can you hear all those singing voices?
Maybe I’m imagining things
Maybe we’re all just mist and vapour
Maybe we’re on puppet strings

And I’m holding you
For the very first time in my eyes
And I feel so deprived.

Shivers running down my skin
And I’m shaking
So don’t pull me closer

I don’t believe you
But I have to
Because I haven’t got anyone else to talk to

So just say my name
And I will not complain
It never ever sounds the same

Close my eyes
Take me away
Because I don’t want to see this place again.

I’m feeling like an animal
Inside your eyes
Inside your mind

Scream out in the willows
And the pillow is your bed
If you want it

Life inside a tube
Life inside us
I don’t want it, I don’t want it.

"Sandbox"

Sunshine gives me sunstroke,
And I don’t like the drill
Where I’m fine one second
And in the next I’m ill.

Rainy days won’t go away
They’re watering the garden.
I understand we need a hand
But still I beg your pardon:

I don’t want to go outside today.
I don’t want to go outside today.

If I could click my fingers
And open up this door,
I wouldn’t be right next to you
Like I have been before.

Everybody says it’s OK!
Everybody, anyway
Well, they’ve all gone outside to play
But still, I have to say:

I don’t want to go outside today.
I don’t want to go outside today.

When everybody whispers
Then everybody knows
The offertory comes to us
It has its fun, then goes.

How can I live with all of this?
This little girl, that little kiss
I tell you, hell I’ll never miss
This chance again.

I don’t want to go outside today.
I don’t want to go outside today.
