Today I cleaned my very dirty keyboard.
All I did was wash it out over a sink, and pick food out of it with a pocketknife.
I then blowdried it and ran a towel over it to fincsh it off.
Now whenever I type, a malfunction happens and the words I intend to type come out horribly mispelled.
Any thoughts?
Example:

You ran your keyboard under water?
It's fucked. You've got water between the membrane layers.
Go buy a new one.

Don't run electrical devices under water. Next time, use a vacuum hose and a brush or something.

wow, dumbass, the only thing that would be funnier is "i was washing out the inside of my computer when i was doing the dishes, and like it does'nt work" seriously. Water + electronic device= garbage. How stupid can you be.

...wow...just wow. This isn't computer knowledge, this is common sense. Any electronic device will cease to work if you run water over it, unless it's waterproof. Somehow I don't think your keyboard is waterproof.

Well... I knocked over a pitcher of water onto my old-school model M once, and it still works fine... But then again it is a model M.

Yeah well you got lucky...but this guy intentionally turned a sink on, and put his keyboard under the water.

Hey, people. Don't be so mean. S/he asked a serious question. You're not supposed to flame.
As for the original question: You're probably going to have to get a new keyboard...although put your keyboard in a warm place (like, outside if it's warm where you are) for a few days so it can dry, there's a chance that it didn't short-circuit, and that there's just a little moisture clogging things up.

This isn't a joke?

This person is a great example of why big corporations have all those seemly pointless and stupid warning labels on their products.

indeed, like the warning on a hairdryer: do not attempt to use while sleeping.

I've got a buddy who washes his keyboard just like this. Runs it under hot water, and then lets it sit out to dry for a minimum of two days. Pretty retarded if you ask me, but the keyboard has never failed on him. I think if my keyboard ever gets dirty enough for me to even THINK about doing that, I'd just buy a new keyboard, especially since I'm fine running a $10 keyboard. Hell, the one I've got right now is some piece from my dad's work that has a "Designed for Windows 95" sticker on the bottom.

I recently got a new keyboard (microsoft ergo 4000 really really nice imo) but my old keyboard was really dirty. I regularly cleaned it out with this thing that blows CO2 around, and vacuumed my keyboard to get out the food crumbs/hairs.

easy way to clean your keyboard would just pull all of the keys off (minus the bigger ones cause on some keyboads they are spring loaded) and take the compressed air to it, and yeh. When you pop the individual keys off you can wash them individually, and wash the rest of the keyboard with a damp cloth.

Working or not, you're still an idiot. You ran an electronic device with open circuitry under water. If it's working fine now that just means you're a very lucky idiot.

Flying monkey wrenches? We're not in Oz...and last time I checked most dumbasses have quite a spot of trouble with DROD once you get to the more challenging levels.
