hey I've heard that if you use your straightner often enough that after a while your hair just stays straight without even having to use anything on it. Is this true? Also around how long would it take for your hair to do this? Just wondering;) thanks for the help.

I would not advise you doing that at all.
Because when you use a straightner it strips your hair of it's natural oils and it also damages it every time you do so.
If you straighten your hair enough it will become dry and brittle. Believe me, you can ask the same question to a professional and they will say the same thing.
If you want it straight all the time, I recommend getting it permanently done by a professional.

yeah its not good for your hair at all.
my friend straightens her hair everyday and now it natually dries pretty straight and after she straightens it, it never waves but her hair is so incredibly damaged.

tell her to use a hot oil treatment every once in a while. It makes your hair shin again. She could get the VO5 or Pantene ProV,doesn't really matter.I use the cheapest.

No, it's not true. It is true, however, that if you use the straightener a lot you will damage your hair.

I had mine done professionally, it was neither permanet, or straight..:( It turned frizzy and nasty..
I use a straightener on mine...or pull it tight and blow dry it straight....i just spray on a heat protectant..and use high moisturizing crap in the shower..

No. A straightener will not straigthen your hair permanently. if you want that done, you need to have a reverse perm which straighthens your hair but turns your hair to shit anyway.
If you want to have straight hair for a long period there is products out there and tips that will keep your hair straight for a week at a time.
- Use a straightening spray, it will have a heat protector in it but its a setting spray which helps your hair keep it straight. A good one is Lee Stafford Polker Strait. Its a pink bottle.
- When straightening section your hair pull your hair taut and go over it 2 - 3 times. This will make it stay straight once you have done one level of hair go over the hole level together.
- Once finished, DO NOT brush it. You cant brush straight hair, its like curls if you have naturally curly hair and youve straightened it, brushing will make it go frizzy. In the mornings though get a wide tooth come and neaten it up.
- Put a Frizz ease serum through, that will stop the moisture getting into your hair follicles making your hair go frizzy
- A setting spray will set your hair each morning.
- Dont wet it. Wear a swimming cap not a shower cap. Swimming caps work much better.
At night tie it in a LOOSE plait or a loose pony tail so it doesnt get messed up.

Im almost a fully qualified hairdresser. So i know. It wont stay straight after ages of straightening. Ive been straightening my hair for ages and it wont be straight unless i blow dry it and then run the straightner over it. I dont know why Chemical Straightening is called Permanent because its not. If you use a good product like Rusk. You might be able to get it to last 6 months but that depends on the speed that your hair grows and how curly your hair actually is. Straightners wont send your hair frizzy and dry if you care for your hair properly. Use alot of conditioner and make sure you have a good straightner. I reccomend GHD. Though they are very expensive they are worth it. Hope i helped.

Mine used to be an afro ball of fuzz before I started straightening it.
I've been using a straightener since 8th grade, and I'm a sophomore now.
My hair has been damaged badly once, when I had my first shit straightener.
It was somewhat damaged later with a ceramic one.
My latest straightener is titanium, and it works like magic.
Whenever I get out of the shower and blow dry my hair, it's nearly straight and normal on it's own. Then I run the straightener over it just a bit to perfect it the last bit.
It definitely changed my hair to use a good straightener all the time.

Straightening your hair too much can damage it. But you can buy a special shampoo & conditioner, i forget what brand, that makes your hair shinier & healthier looking when you straighten it.
