Hmm, well, shoe-wise i'd go for flats... neutral colors or black. And as for bags, i love the big bags from Chinese Laundry, i use them as backpacks. :)

Look to the runway. For fall my inspiration is coming mainly from Michael Kors and Anna Sui.
I noticed Michael Kors is using a lot of muted colors and thin-knits so you can do lots of layers without looking big. Over-sized sweaters. Dark skinny jeans, mostly grey and black. You can get the jeans at urbanoutfitters.com and exspress. Knit hats are very cool. This style is REALLY easy and REALLY cute and not expensive. The cool thing about it is that you can make a lot of it yourself. Think like...how Keira Knightley and Mary-Kate and Nicole Ricci dress...but don't get as skinny as them! Not that it has anything to do with the clothes...but that's bad! x)
Anna Sui however is going in a different direction entirely. She's been mixing patters a lot, which looks GREAT but it's easy to go a little crazy with that, so that could take practice. She's been using really bright tights, layering. Big, long coats with fur details. Boots and mary-janes. LACE. You're most likely to find this style in the thrift store. Hard to put together, but it stands out and looks amazing. You can look at her fall line for inspiration here: http://www.annasuibeauty.com/site/fall_2006_stills.htm

why are people so worried about what clothes are "in"?
Just wear whats comftorble and what looks good on you.
besides, if you go by whats "in", you'll look like every other person.
which is totally boring.
so go w/ your own style

skinny jeans in greys and black
oversized layers and knits
flats and pumps
long, lean, clean lines
fur trims
tights
unless you're going for a trim clean silhouette, think big oversized top with layers, and skinny jeans on the bottom.

Any style you want to be in! I don't care whats in and whats not! If I like it, I'm going to wear it! And the same should go for you! ;]

Although I agree you should just buy what you think looks good on you, if you want my opinion as to what looks good this season I would go with...
wedge heels, those are pretty big this year, when buying them though i suggest making sure the lace of the shoe is a soft fabric and not leather, to balance out the feeling of the wedge with the fabric part.
printed tee's are pretty in this year although i find them to be vastly over-rated, and a bit tacky.
mixing pastel colors with bold jewelry is pretty big on the runways this year. Also, knee lenght shorts with basic tanks dressed with layers of necklaces or, if you're going for more classy than something like a Kimono...see here (http://wetseal.com/productdetail.asp?mi=1000&size=&style=36968077&color=10&token=) or here (http://wetseal.com/productdetail.asp?mi=1000&size=&style=36829064&color=100&token=)
Umm..that's all i can think of now, hope i helped.

Just watch the latest music videos, magazines, and popular shows. If you see any style you like buy it, and wear it, and be happy. Problem solve.:D

Nothing too revealing? Wear whatever you want, as long as you are happy with it, and wear something a bit more reavealing it's your body, you decide. As long as your happy with the way you look, then everything else will fall into place.
