I think A&F is more for show offs than AE

Show offs? Like, I shop at AE so I'm better then you? Because that's something unheard of for me.

No, I do not think it's a place for show offs.

I go into American Eagle whenever I want to show off my prized stamp collection.
So yes, AE is totally for show-offs, like myself.

How is american Eagle for show offs? Its not even that expensive... you can buy a pair of jeans there for like 40 bucks and lots of other places sell them for a lot more than that.

It's really cheap and they have cute clothes, how is it a 'show-off store'?

Can you not afford it or something?

The only people who think AE is a show off store are people who shop at Wal Mart.

See, I must be really strange... because I don't really think it's for SHOWOFFS persay, but I absolutely detest the wearing of clothes with a brand name plastered across the front for the world to see... yes, I HAVE gotten shirts from ae before, once or twice, but none of them ever said "American Eagle" on them... I think people should show their individuality instead of walking around like a human billboard... I mean, you're paying THEM so you can advertise their store, and they should be paying YOU... that's just my outlook on it.

And I don't really see how you can call those clothes "cheap"... I don't think I would be paying 40-80 bucks for a pair of jeans, some of which have been pre-ripped... (apparently that's the in thing... I say you should EARN the rips in your jeans)

And I'm sure all of my post has been weird/offensive/wrong to someone in some way, so let the rants fly in. I'm ready.

You just stole the exact thoughts out of my brain. Good job.

I remember this football player saying this

"You can go out and buy your 100$ jeans, I will go and buy a 10$ pair of jeans. The only difference is that I make it look like a million dollars."

AE is my favorite store, I love their boyfriend jeans and military jackets...and no they're not a place for show offs unless you're poor.

The store for show offs would be Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollister, those are stuck up girl stores.

nope, its not. you must be thinking of Hollister and A&F.
i love AE

I'm curious, why are people saying that Hollister is a "show off store?" Their clothes really aren't that much more expensive than AE, and it's definitely cheaper than A&F. I tend to think of A&F and Lacoste as the "show off brands," if any of the popular brands can really be characterized that way.

What's the point of paying $150 for a pair of ripped jeans? Please tell me, if you are a preppy who frequents preppy stores.

Umm, NO!
What kind of person would show off a Hollister or A&F. I'd be embarrased to be seen in A&F. But I never show off anything I own even if it's an actual designer item. It is a tacky thing to do, and the only people I know who do it are poor people that spent about 5 months saving up to go to Prada and buy 1 thing, to later wear it nonstop and tell anyone who passes by that it was 500 dollars.

I am not a "preppy", but like I said, I buy jeans I like, the fact that the good quality jeans I like are name brand and expensive doens't make me a prep. I can afford to buy anything I like, why is that so wrong? Why does that make me a prep? Or a snob, for that matter?

DrStrange_love
08-12-2006, 01:41 AM
I am asking why you don't buy jeans of the same quality and lower price, and wear them in yourself? It's not hard. Fall here, scrape there. It all works our anyways and you got yourself a genuine pair of broken-in jeans.

And I say preppy because 99% of the time, the jeans accompany a polo-shirt wearing idiot with a popped collar.

It doesn't. As you pretty much already said, it's all in the attitude of the person who's wearing it, not the garments themselves.

First off, I do not wear ripped jeans. Not my style at all. And who the hell said I wouldn't buy jeans that are the same quality for a lower price? Hell yes, I would. When I like something I don't care if it's 1000 dollars or 2 dollars, I buy it because I like it. However, the clothing I like are usually expensive. I have the money for it, how is that wrong?

Thank you. I was wondering the same thing myself. Hollister really isn't expensive. A polo there is $24.50 as opposed to $40.00 at A&F. Think about it. But then, everything depends on each person's individual budget.

AE, Hollister, A&F are pricey IMO.

I'd rather shop at JcPenney's or Goody's. But if I really like something thats expensive, then I'll buy it. But for everyday things, I like to keep it simple.

But I don't think it's a place for show-off's. If someone likes it, then let them buy it. I just don't like it when someone buys something $300+ and brags about the cost and what not. Now thats a show off.

STFU, Walmart is cheap yes. But some of their items there are cute.

I bought this oriental mini skirt their and it's holding up much better than the one I bought at Old Navy! I paid $15 for the Walmart one and at Old Navy I paid $30. And the Walmart one is my favorite skirt. I love it.

Just because someone doesn't spend a lot of money on their clothes doesn't make them any less of a person, geez. I spend a lot on some clothes, and very little on some clothes. Its what I like.

You're a fucking idiot.

They can afford to be a "cheap dump" as you put it because they're the second biggest corporation in the world. ;/ As for the "trailor trash" insult, I don't see why you said it beyond showing disdain for those people. Even those people need a place to shop, and to a corporation, their money is as good as a rich person's.

I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart, but I realize that Wal-Mart being so damned cheap is PRECISELY a reason so many people shop there. I'd try to insult something besides a factor that keeps them in business.

I don't think AE is a store for showoffs. If anything, it seems that way because people who are showoffs may buy stuff there. There was a time where I would have thought that kind of store was pricey (I usually spend the same amount [or more] on band t-shirts, so whatever.), but now I just don't care for most of their products. I'll admit the wallets are fun stuff, though. I may have seen other good products... Can't remember.

I think it all comes down to preference or experience manifesting itself in illogical ways. Just because a few showoffs get shit from the store says nothing for it or its customer base as a whole. ;/

So I can assume that people who shop at Abercrombie and Fitch are pre-pubescent teens equipped with the power of their daddy's credit? k

I don't personally shop at Wal-Mart for clothes but what if someone with a minimum wage job and 2 kids needed cheap, reliable clothing? Where else do they turn?

Haha at you for telling me to shut up, you have no arguement to speak for, so shut it.

so just cause someone buys clothes at walmart they are a lesser person than someone who buys clothes from some trendy store? I buy clothes at walmart, but I also have Hilfiger, Polo and other things as well.
