To thread starter: If you REALLY want an edge to your style then instead of doing nail polish, try wearing a completely different color or style of clothes. If, for instance, you always wear sweat pants then one day try a pair of blue jeans. If you always wear blue, try pink. This way you can find stuff that's completely you but different than your usual.

P.S. Black nail polish isn't poser, but it's on the ugly side and may stain your fingernails for a few weeks.

i mean, everyone labels people, even if you don't mean to. it's a reflex. if you see someone walking in all black with chains on them and thick eyeliner, it's human habit to just assume they like metal or w/e music it is. if you see someone pretty wearing abercrombie, you'll probably assume they're the typical preppy kid.

1.Black nail polish is not considered "punk", I don't know who told you that, but they obviously don't know the first thing about "punk". I see alot of rich business women wearing black nail polish, but that does not make them punk.

2.You are only a poser if you think or know that you are a poser. And anyone who tries to call you a poser, is probably a poser, because it takes one to know one.

3.Wearing black nail polish is not going to put alittle anything on your style. It is just nail polish. Cut your hair in chunky pieces or something if you want some "edge" in your style.
