he's a half decent director but there are a great many directors who surpass him by leaps and bounds. he's really nothing special. pirates of the carribean was a product of good writing and acting, as well as huge production values and Jerry Bruchiemmer not being able to sneak a fucking hummer into the film like usual. not really a product of direction.

You're basing his amazingness on Pirates? What a rube. Christopher Nolan, just for starters, could kill Verbinski's ass.
