I have notcied a few regulars who are interested in fahsion on this board but, they all seem to want to model or just buy.
Is there anyone else here who wants to design?

Well I don't want to necessarily design in the sense you're talking about, but I'm studying at school to be a set designer for theater, and I want to get involved in costume design as well.

Yes, I design quite well actually. I've taken several classes, but I hate it when little 12 year olds are like, "I want to design!", and they can't even sew. I've been sewing since I was 10, it's a Mexican thing, I guess. But really, if I do say so myself, I think I'm quite skilled.

I want to design, but I don't think it's my main goal in life.

I was serious in the past about becoming a fashion designer. I even drew some sketches of ideas I came up with, but that dream kinda flew out the window.

Could you sew? How can you be serious IF YOU CAN'T EVEN SEW? And duh, if you wanna design, you draw your ideas, what's so immpressive there?

i've always loved everything about clothes i like study them. for a while i wasm aking my own clothes and such just to bring my designs to life. But then i realized i'd rather be involved with fashion in the way of merchandising or advertisement then actual design

It's dumb to pretend to have a future as a designer, when you can't even sew, or you do so in a mediocre way.

Well, I'm sorry, but the truth is, if you don't have extensive experience sewing, and I mean VERY WELL, then no, you don't have a future as a designer. If it offends you, too damn bad, it's the god damn truth.

Drawing a good part of the desgin process... but sketchy is pretty much the quickest way to get your idea down.... the fun part is making the pattern LMAO its an interesting process... I still havent really mastered the sewing technique but it will take years.
One thing learning to do patterns is really interesting.

She's a teen, she doesn't need "serious experience". She goes for it now, takes classes in college, practices, tries, leanrs, then succeeds. Stop being so bitchy.

When my mother brought me to this fabric store as a kid, I always beelined to the cocktail dress fabric (think cloth dripping in sparkles). She taught me how to sew when I was 12 -- I made enough scrunchies to play in them like most kids play in leaf piles (my talent for sewing is now completely crappy though). I would love to sew again, but I just do not have the time anymore unfortunatley :(

God I love going shopping for fabric.
Its going to be so different for me this year, doing menswear choose that field of design going to have to deal with a smaller range of fabric but its still going to be fun muhahahah.

Lucky! Good luck with that and have fun, i've heard menswear was sort of tricky to put together (you have to be really precise), but that makes it all the much more fun I think :D

menswear is the hardest thing. Seeing if you do tailored suits, which I am starting with.
the teachers at my school say its better to learn to do menswear tailoring before you do womens wear because you get a better understanding of how the garment is really made with the patterns. blah blah blah
