They hurt, you can eat gravy, and there's nothing you can do about them.

they dont hurt initially, but the first 2 weeks suck, your teeth are moving and the numbness is unbearable. you wont be able to eat most solid foods 1-2 weeks

you can eat pretty much anything as long as you're careful

If you get them in the morning, they'll be hurting by night time.
Buy: applesauce, jello, pudding, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes... anything mushy. For breakfast for the first week or so try oatmeal maybe.

They won't hurt badly when you get them on, it'll just feel weird. When you get the wires changed every couple weeks, months (however often) it'll start to hurt again because your teeth are shifting. Usually the orthodontist will talk you through the whole process and explain what you'll feel and what is going to happen.

If anything breaks- make sure to set up an appointment a.s.a.p.!
Oh, pick fun rubber band colors! I miss that part about having braces. :(

They hurt like motherfucker.
No lie.

They had to mold some crap around my back tooth which involved twisting my tooth a bit. That was the worst pain ever.

You can't really eat soild foods for awhile.

When they put them on, they don't hurt. But you'll feel pain when they put in the wire and tighten them.

"what can i eat?"

they will give you a list of foods that are "forbidden" and foods that u cant eat, such bad foods include hard candy, corn chips, popcorn(all though u can eat the stuff u pop in the popper, not the ****owavable stuff), jerky, corn on the cob, drinks that are high in sugar, bubble gum

and like so many people have said, they dont hurt to get on. But make sure that u eat a big lunch/supper, as soon u get out, becasue u wont be able to eat anything for a couple of days. And also, they only hurt after the first time they get tightened, the ones after that dont hurt as much, just a little pressure becasue the teeth are moving.
