are there any other horseback riders here? what do you wear?
I just went, and I wore a polo and tank, padded riding pants (the legging-ish ones), and western boots.
I need new riding clothes though, so if anyone has any suggestions for comfortable things, please post!

western saddle, but the clothes style doesn't matter. I don't compete or anything, it's just leisure. I have 3 horses at my ranch so we just ride around!
I need comfortable stuff for like cantering/galloping and trail rides though humdedum!
I'm getting a new saddle soon I'm so excited. except I loved my old one but I'm too big for it now lol

I have 2 horses, but I don't see them often so when I do I don't really wear anything special for when I do. They're really pretty though =).

I took horseback riding lessons awhile ago. I just wore boot cut black jeans and white boots and a tshirt. This is when I was 10 though. Hah.

I've been riding most all of my life. I compete in Jumpers and Eventing. Hence I wear breeches, ariat leather boots, a show shirt (or polo shirt) and a show jacket.

Well the place where I ride we pretty much have a dress code... khaki colored riding pants, whit, navy, or black polo, ( I usually where ralph lauren) black riding boots and a black riding helmet... meh.
I don't have a horse of my own.

I've been riding English for about fourteen years. Yeah, most my life. I have a pony and a horse, and I compete often. It's one of the only two 'sports' I do (golf being the other). Anyway, about the clothes...
Depeding on the weather I either wear a Ralph Lauren skinny polo, a Romfh long sleeve, or some kind of tanktop.
As far as breeches go I'm quite fond of the Ariat riding breeches or the Tailored Sportsman low rise. I suggest not getting full seat breeches, I don't really like the look or feel to them.
If wearing short boots I suggest classic Ariats. (Not the kind that resemble a sneaker). Wear half chaps if you're wearing short boots. Make sure the color matches your boots.
As far as tall boots go, I have the Ariat Crowne's with the full length zipper. I prefer field boots over dress boots look-wise, but for the kind of riding I do (dressage), dress boots are better to have. I have some kind of Petrie model. If purchasing tall boots I suggest getting the full length zipper. Much more convenient.
I know nothing about Western riding fashion.

Jeans, a tank or a short sleeve shirt, half chaps, boots and a helmet.
The end. Of course, this is just for my lessons. If I were showing, I can assure you it'd be a nice shirt tucked into breeches with tall boots.
Of course, since you ride western, you don't need the half chaps. But jeans and a shirt with a helmet are all you need, darling. It's not about fashion when it comes to riding (excepting showing), it's about the comfort and range of movement.

Ok, the best place for jodhpurs I've ever found, is Saxon. They do incredible colours!
Do you have a stable dress code? At my stable you have to wear eventing kit if you're schooling. You wear more casual riding kit when you're out hacking or grooming/mucking out/doing genral 'stable' stuff
If yours it like that, bulk-buy black jodhs and white shirts and keep them at the stable (ours gives us lockers)
But for casual stuff, you HAVE to colour co-ordinate!!! Get another hat which wears covers, and get some in every colour than you have jodhs in. The ones that have black/coloured or white/coloured sections are great.
For saddlecloths and numnahs, go for sPiRt. They are so CUTE!!!!

i'm glad you're so rich you can have two horses n not even be that bothered about them, just how they look, i's taken lessons for about 5 years, and live on a farm and i'm still not allowed a horse even though i've looked after them properly at the stables i go to, some people just don't know how lucky they are

I don't horseback ride very much.
I do when I'm at the beach in the summer sometimes.
I love horseback riding though!
I usually wear a pair of riding boots, riding pants(the ones that look like leggings), and a tank top with a riding vest over it.
If I don't wear a tank top with the riding vest, I usually wear a plain tank top or a polo shirt.
