This thread is dedicated to pancake lovers world wide! Post your favorite pancake recipes, what you like to eat with your pancakes, on them, in them, what kind of batter you use, etc!

I'll start-

Applesauce pancakes-
Take your favorite pancake batter and mix as usual, substituting 3/4 of the milk you would usually use, with applesauce. Mix well, it should be darker and thicker than usual. Shake in a bit of ground cinnoman if desired. Cook as usual, top with fresh applesauce.

Chocolate Chip Strawberry Pancakes- Mix Pancake mix as usual, mixing in 2 parts miniature chocolate chips (i suggest semi-sweet) and 1 part thinly chopped strawberries. Add one tablespoon granualted or brown sugar. Cook as usual, top with powdered sugar or whipped cream.

I love blueberry chocolate chip pancakes with maple syrup on top. It seems like an odd combination but it tastes better than it sounds. :nerd:

I love home made fresh pancakes with golden syrup, sugar, creme, jam and that lemon stuff on them. Perfect for anyone who happens to be on a diet! haha

It sounds weird, but the best textured pancakes all have Sprite in them (for extra Co2). I thought it would taste gross, but it really didn't make too much of a taste difference. The recipe that we used was called the "Clark Gable Pancake", I think.

Interesting...

You know what i find odd? Down south... when you ask for blueberry/strawberry, etc. pancakes... they give you normal pancakes with goupy cammed fruit on top... not mixed in...

It's pretty good, but not the same at all.

That's terrible :happysad:

Blueberry pancakes wouldn't be blueberry pancakes without the berries mixed in! Mmmm...And maple syrup..Wonderful.

My mother eats pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. It sickens me.

Personally, I think banana and honey is a nice combination.

Aren't North American pancakes different to British pancakes?

We only tend to eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. A thin layer of batter in a frying pan with lemon juice/sugar/golden syrup poured on top.

Pancakes are basically a staple breakfast food, and not just in North America... Reticent isn't from NA, nor is princess_katie

It seems your country simply has a lack of respect for the fluffy golden deliciousness of pancakes.

Lemon juice? Ew.

Post a picture of what your pancakes look like.

yeah US and UK have different pancakes.. well anyway.. 1 for the UK..

when its cooking, slice up a mars bar and lay it over 1 side of the pancake, let it cook for a bit more and the chocolate will melt, then fold the other half of the pancake over it. Dont be too generous with the mars bar or itl all leak out :P

yum. very unhealthy though.

As you should be able to see from the pictures, our pancakes are just the thinnest layer of batter possible cooked briefly in a pan. You then add stuff to make them taste of something.

They made me hungry, lol.

But yes, we do only have them on shrove tuesday. You can get the brought pancakes like they have in NA over here but they are not so popular.

PANCAKES ARE NOT JUST FOR SHROVE TUESDAY! I make them all the time. Both kinds are good (the thin ones are actually crepes). Shop bought ones aren't as nice as homemade ones though.
But I've never eaten them for breakfast. That sounds a bit sickening to be honest =/
And I've always thought the whole bacon and maple syrup thing sounded disgusting.

UK pancakes look more like crepes to me... oily? rolled with stuff? Yep, crepes.

You have obviously never had true american mile high pancakes...

they're delectable.

I like crepes... but it's more of a snack or a breakfast side. Pancakes are the basis of a breakfast here.

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE pancakes! I eat them most days...I just like regular buttermilk pancakes, theres this kind in Walmart, its name brand it just great value and they're extra fluffy. So good! I eat them with syrup and sometimes cool whip. IHOP is my favorite restaurant, they give you so many pancakes. If you've never gone there, I definitely reccomend it.

well the recipe for The Mayor's Inn: Blueberry Puffed Pancake is

1/4 C butter, melted
3 eggs
3/4 C flour
3/4 C milk
1 Tbsp of honey

Divide the melted butter into 3 individual ramekins.
Place a dozen or so blueberries into each ramekin. Combine the rest of
ingredients & beat until fluffy. Divide equally between the 3 ramekins.

Bake at 425 until browned, approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle
with powdered sugar & serve as quickly as possible. They will deflate
after they sit. You may double recipe as needed

and for PUMPKIN-CLOVE PANCAKES is

2 cups all purpose flour
6 tablespoons (packed) brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 2/3 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup canned solid pack pumpkin
3 large eggs
2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) butter, melted

4 tablespoons (about) butter

Pure maple syrup

Preheat oven to 250?F. Mix first 6 ingredients in large bowl to
blend. Whisk buttermilk, pumpkin, eggs and melted butter in medium
bowl until well blended. Add to dry ingredients and whisk until
smooth.

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
Working in batches, drop batter by 1/4 cupfuls into skillet. Cook
pancakes until bubbles form on top and bottoms are golden brown,
about 2 1/2 minutes. Turn pancakes over. Cook until bottoms are
golden brown, about 2 minutes. Transfer to baking sheet; place in
oven to keep warm up to 20 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter,
adding more butter to skillet as necessary for each batch.

Serve pancakes hot with maple syrup.

Makes about 15
