um im not sure which thingie to post this in, i guess this is the right one,anyway....
well okay basically i have alot of scars all over my body, im tryng to find ways to get rid of them, okay so i heard that vitamen E really helps with scars, and like you buy this vitamin e cream and rub it into the scar. well my sister just bought these vitamin E pills for unrelated reasons, and it made me wonder, if i take the pill would that work the same as the cream? or do you have to rub it directly into the scar so it wouldn't work? yeah see this might sound really stupid but im just curious if it would work cuz it'd be much easier and costs less i think too. anyhoo, can someone please help me out here? thanks bunches ;)

I'm not so sure about vitamin E pills but, if you're looking for quite effective stuff there are lots of 'scar creams' on the market specifically to make scars go away..
That's all I really can say though.

Unfortunately, there's no way of getting rid of scars, aside from cosmetic surgery. Specialized creams and even vitamin E may help reduce the appearance of scars, they will not eliminate them. By the way, you can actually just cut a vitamin E gel capsule, squeeze the contents out, and rub it on your scars.

Onion Extract acts as an anti-inflammatory and seems to inhibit the over-production of collagen in a scar. Onion extract is available in the United States as a gel by itself, but is also an ingredient in Mederma gel, a widely used scar treatment that you referred to in your question. Onion extract, by itself or as part of another course of treatment, requires consistent use over several months in order to produce any effect.
Silicone, available either as a gel or in rubber-like sheets, has been found to lighten and flatten scars. You apply the gel directly to the scar or use medical tape to cover the scar with the silicone sheet. It isn't known exactly how silicone helps scars heal ≈ some researchers think that static electricity from the silicone helps align collagen fibers in the scar, while others think it might help trap moisture, which can help make scars fade.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids are natural fruit acids that are used to exfoliate (remove) dead skin cells. This process can improve the appearance of acne scars and reduce redness, as well as wrinkles and signs of aging. If you decide to use alpha hydroxy, investigate the various strengths and use the mildest. For people with sensitive skin, alpha hydroxy can cause irritation, stinging, and other problems. A health care provider or dermatologist can advise you on which types and concentrations of alpha hydroxy acids you can try.
Product manufacturers say that scar-treatment products will work on both new and old scars, though older scars may take longer to improve, if at all, from the treatment. If you are treating a new scar, wait until the wound is completely healed (i.e., no raw open areas, oozing, or scabs), which may take between three weeks and a few months. Also, use them consistently, as indicated, for periods also up to several months.
Some studies have concluded that over-the-counter scar treatments are 25 - 50 percent effective at reducing the spreading and darkening of scars. In other words, these treatments are effective for some, but not for everyone who uses them. Some treatment brands carry guarantees or product-return policies ≈ if you decide to give one a try, it's a good idea to be aware of the terms of any such policy before purchasing. Also, if price is a concern, consider using silicone strips as a first attempt at treatment ≈ they can be washed and reused, sometimes for an entire course of treatment.-

thanks guys. i've tried cocobutter and it helped fade some of the newer scars but not the old ones. and i was using this stuff called scarzone but i dont think it worked at all. right now all im doing is rubbing hand lotion into them that is made with vitamin E- do you think that would work the same as an expensive vitamin E product that is made for scars? i dunno but my mum wont buy me any new products yet because im going to the dermatologist next week and we're gunna see what he says. anyone else have any ideas though? or advice about if using the lotion with vitamin e will work the same as the scar gel?

I have a lot of scars, too..I used mederma and vitamin E creams..You really should stay out of the sun, too. You're scars will look like burns and get brown/black/purple..
Wanting them gone signifies a change in your outlook, go you.

you talking to me? i didnt disregard it, i read it, i just happen to know that already. i know you can only reduce the appearance of them, and that's exactly what im trying to do. a faded, flattened, only slightly noticable scar is alot better than what i have right now. and it seems like you would have to buy alot of vitamin e capsules to do that(i have over a hundred scars), and thats why i was wondering if using regular body lotion with vitamin e in it would work the same, cuz its cheap, easy to get ahold of, and comes in a big bottle.(and noone would get suspicious of why i have lotion, i mean im a girl, wheras they might wonder why i have vitamin e pills or scar creams or whatever.)
...happy? :)
