key word here that i agree with strongly is: SCENE. to the threadstarter: you didn't see 'emo' kids, you saw SCENE kids. 'emo' kids don't shop in places like hot topic, or really any fashion store, the real 'emo' kids buy second hand clothes because they don't feel the need to spend excesively on themselves on something like clothes, and they make it their own by alternating the clothes in one way or another... sortof how punks dress, except they don't rip things and put them back together with safety pins.
but i agree with everyone who said that hot topic sucks. they do suck, incredibly! and that comment about the 50 zippers thing... HAHAHA, completely agree with that. i'd rather be facing someone who has a jungle, two-nostrils, labret, snakebites, venom, monroe, bridge, horizontal eyebrow, and guaged ears then a kid who wears bondage pants that's almost completely made out of zippers.

i shop there, not because im trying to be some stereotype, but because i like what they have. i've only bought a few t-shirts, but most of their items a pretty nice. everyone is going to have their own opinion, and i respect that, but dont go bashing someone just because of a store they shop in. that's just plain stupid.

Hot topic has some nice accessories here and there. fishnets, things with stripes, non-leather studded belts, etc. but it's not a "goth store" as some people here said... It's a trendy mall store.
I agree with what a lot of people here said about the big pants.. XD I have to say, hot topic sells some of the most godawful pants. The big baggy bondage pants with a million straps and chains all over them... that look like one pair could be a tent for a three ring circus... the chains jingle when the kid wearing them walks, and when they sit down all the straps get stuck on the chair. Out of all the silly fashion trends, this one i hate the most. Even more than emo pants. I don't mind regular fitting bondage pants with a few zippers on them.. but those big baggy ones look really stupid.
There do usually seem to be a lot of kids in hot topic who *are* kind of annoying. But not everyone.

Hot topic rocks in my opinion and I have been in quite a few and not everyone in thier was emo and not everything had freaking chains on it.
You were really stupid for making a board just to say how much you hate a store, I hate seveal stores but I do not go around on the board saying how much I hate them not only because it is a waste but because thier are thousands of others who like the store.
If you do not like the store then guess what OH FREAKING WELL, don't go in it if you do not like it, you act as if someone is holding a gun to your head forcing you to go in their.

Actually (as I've already said many times), being "emo" has nothing to do with cutting, or being whiny, or taking antidepressants even if you don't need them.
Emo-short for Emotional- is a music genre. It's not a fashion or a trend or anything like that. It's a type of music. Many wannabe kids have made it into the cool thing to do now, and you're right, a lot of those people do cut because they think it is cool...but that isn't what emo is about. It's just about music. So please stop saying that just because there are the posers out there who are dying to be "emo" that all of them are like that. Because they're not.

I hate this. People, get your fucking facts straight. "Emo" people don't dress in chained pants. You're getting that a little confused with goth. And I'm not going to tell you what it is, because I want to start some drama and see if you can get off your assuming little asses to find out what emo really is.

We've already come to the conclusion your a fuckwit, why do you need to continue proving it? If you don't know what the term originally meant, you can't know anything else about it. Its a genre of music, Emo is short for Emotive Hardcore. hardcore punk music with emotionaly music. That's all it means.

Goths don't generally dress in "chained pants" either. Most goths i know can't stand them. Most of the kids who dress like that and call themselves "goths" are actually just goth-wannabes who don't really know what goth is. Usually just nu-metallers or something. Definitely not a Goth thing.

For your information, Hot Topic is not classified as a 'emo' store. It is a store dedicated to people who actually have an intrest in real music. The clothing is not emo, more punk or rocker-ish. As for the classification of 'emo', it's basically a stupid knock-off of punk and/or 'goth' style. 'Emo' is basically the unidentified style of a preppy punk/goth wannabe, who is too afraid to adapt the attitude so acts and tries to dress like they are. This emo thing didn't come about since just recently....I'm not quite sure why. All I know is because of these so-called 'emo' people, I hate all people.

I just thought of something about the store: The name Hot Topic. When I think of it in terms of news, a hot topic is something very current and hotly debated at the moment. Well, when translated to the stores it's about the same thing, clothing very current-and interstingly enough, also hotly debated at the moment. So basically whenever people use the argument that they like Hot Topic because it's unique and non mainstream, this perspective on their name totally detroys that.

no idiot, its a fucking fact. Punk is music. Emo is music. I don't care if you have every color of the rainbow dyed into your mohawk, your shit if you don't listen to the music. I'm talking The Clash/Sex Pistols/Dead Kennedy's/Anti-Flag minus the last album/The Unseen. or Rites Of Spring/Embrace/Grey Matter for emo. Those aren't the only bands of that genre, but if their not similar their not punk. You become a punk by listening to that music + believing that you should be yourself, DIY, stand strong in your beliefs. If you believe there's such thing as a set clothing style for punk then you are automatically not a punk.
