I used to hate the idea of getting a tattoo, they seemed too common and I didn't want to join the craze. However, I now really want to get the aerosmith logo tattoo.

Where do you think would be the best place to get it?

Personally, I wouldn't get any band tattoos. You have to remember that, barring any really painful laser surgery, you'll ALWAYS have it. The bands that you like now probably aren't going to be the same bands you like in 10 or 20 years from now, much less 40 or 50 years from now. Imagine if your parents had gotten their favorite bands tattooed on them 20 or 30 years ago...I'm guessing they'd be doing a lot of covering them up now (especially if they had gotten Michael Jackson's name tattooed on them..heh). Anyways, if you choose to get it anyways, it'd probably be best to get it somewere that is easily covered up. Even if you do still like in a few decades from now, there'll be times when you don't want it showing. Maybe your hip or butt or lower back or something...I don't really know. It just doesn't seem like a very good idea to me.

^^Agreed. Just to put the whole thing in perspective, and I know that it's not usually this drastic with most people, I had a friend who got tattoos of the band he had been in for a couple of months, just as they were starting to get pretty big and being checked out by a few labels. They broke up six months later, and the guy has nothing to show for it--except the words "Snatching Gnomes" tattooed on both of his arms, but I don't think he's too happy to have that for the rest of his life.

I think if you're IN a band, it's ok.
I think that if you're a huge fan of a band for many, many years, then it's ok. Like I'm getting a They Might Be Giants tattoo when I turn 18. I've been a die-hard fan of them for over 14 years now.
Also, another exception, I think, is if you get an artsy-type one and get a bunch of other tattoos. Like I might get a backpiece with this in it:

It's a drawing of the singer of one of my favorite bands, the Adicts.

And get the Aerosmith logo on your lower back or on your upper back (right below your neck, int he center).

Actually my dad still likes the same bands he liked thirty years ago, the only music that is treated like a fad is pop music if you like an actual genre of music then you probably won't loose all interest in your favorite band.

Doesn't Uma Thurmon have the Aerosmith tattoo on the small of her back in the Movie Be Cool.
