if you tan really easily you will probably be able to see the results right away. it might not be too dark at first, but after a few visits you will definately be able to see it.

It all depends on your skin type. I used to work in a tanning salon and some people would hardly get dark at all and some would be dark after 1 or two times. If you don't see any colour after 5 times you probably aren't using the right lotion. PM me if you need any more help or informaton, I'm an expert when it comes to tanning salons (because they drill it into your effing head there  )

If it is your first time tanning you should NEVER go for the full 20 minutes.. b/c you will burn, even if you tan easily. You gradually build up the time, thus getting darker with staying longer. It usually takes a little while to get dark.. and it depends on the color you want. I was very fair and it took me a month to get very dark, but if you aren't looking for a dramatic result, then probably after a week or two, you will be how you want. It also depends on how often you go.. if you only go once a week it will take a lot longer than if you go every other day or so. I think you get too dark and orangey for going EVERY day though!

Not in a tanning bed, you're thinking of self tanners.

Obviously the tanning salon will regulate the time, or else it's their asses on the line. The only time you'll go orangey is if the lotion you're using has more than triple bronzers and you use it all the time. Every day is not healthy if you go 3 days in arow but if you only have a chance to go 2 days in a row for any reason it's not unhealthy at all if you don't go pink at all the first day.
Threadstarter: Depending on the strength of the bulbs you're using (i'm going to assume you're using middle level bulbs) the maximum minutes will vary. For middle strength (the most popular) the max. wil probably be 20 minutes. You can choose to work your way up to that or find a time that suits you well. Good luck with everything.

If you tan easily, try using one of those lotions you can buy that make you tan faster... cant remember what they are called. They speed up the process.
I noticed a real difference after about 4 medium strength sessions.

Tanning salons will allow you to go once every 24 hours, not any more often, so you CAN go every day, but I just wouldn't recommend it. My friend actually did get an orange face (eek) without bronzers or anything.. I don't even think she used lotion most of the time (bad idea). She was brown all over with an orangey face.. she was naturally really pale and it definitely looked pretty bad!!!
I'm all for the spray tans as well!!! I didn't want to further damage my skin or risk skin cancer.. and I love my airbrush tanning stuff since it doesn't stink and is even quicker than laying in a bed for 15 or 20 minutes! It takes like 5 at the most, including drying time! Woohoo!

Well it does fade gradually.. so yeah it does fade in the shower, but it fades anyway if you didn't shower (eww haha). It lasts a few days for me, but I think for most peope they say a few days to a week. When you shave it does come off a little more though, so I always put it on after shaving.
