Ok, so for the past few days I have been on a diet and will be for like 3 more weeks. What I've been doing is eating 500 calories of non-fruit or veggie food a day plus as many fruits and veggies as I want. Like eating a couple egg whites in the morning, a "lean cuisine" meal for lunch and like a cup of yogurt for dinner. Plus lots of fruits and vegatables in between like mostly watermelon broccoli spinach and strawberries. Plus I work out.
I was just wondering if this is healthy to do for about a one month period or is it not enough food or whatver. I drink plenty of water and dont really feel hungry during the day but I was just wondering is this healthy?
Thanks :pink:

As long as you are getting enough protiens and viatamins you should be fine.
The body needs about 1500 hundred calories a day to run, more if you work out. Make sure you are getting enough, or you could lose to much weight, or become malnurioushed. Try seeing a nutritionist or doctor just to make sure

Starving is starving, simply including fruit and vegetables will not save you.
And to the original poster, I doubt you will get enough extra calories through the fruit/vegetables, since you need at the very least 1500 calories a day even if you are a sedentary female.

i just had to get to the paragraph fragment that said "500 is calories..." to know that this is not a good idea.

She said 500 calories plus the vegetables and fruit, although I doubt she could get any decent amount of calories from that.

Well I don't really know how much calories I am getting from vegetables and fruit is there some website or something that tells you how many calories are in different fruits and vegetables?
I do eat alot though and like I said I'm never hungry. I'll eat like whole quarter os a watermelon plus broccoli and lots of grapes all in one day. + my other food.

why are you trying to lose weight in the first place? You prolly dont really need to. Since your still growing just make sure you eat enough and dont restrict yourself of nothing. Sure the healthy eating and exercise is really good until it goes overboard and obessesive, so just be careful. And 500 cals!!?? Are you crazy?!?!? You are really gonna mess up your metabolism and possibly gain a little extra if thats what you think is healthy! Baby's live off of 1000 cals a day and your still growing a lot at this point in your life. Moderation of everything is all good. Hope this helped. :)

I'm probably the least qualified person in the world to consult about this, but here's my two cents. It might be okay to do that for a little while if you eat a ton of fruits and veggies. And maybe istead of 500 calories you could do 1000 calories. Because with that little amount of food your metabolism is going to slow down like crazy. Lean proteins would be a good idea, maybe tofu (not as bad as it sounds, I'm a vegetarian and I eat it all the time). You could also try this one delecious cereal called Kashi Go Lean Crunch. It has tons of nutritional stuff in it like protein and vitamins while also aiding in weight loss because it curbs cravings.

my mom is a nutritionist and i ought to tell u that u MUSN'T eat less than 1450-1500 calories per day, because ur a teenager and ur still developing. if u eat less than that u can end up with an eating disorder.if u think ur overweight u sholud consult ur family doctor or a nutritionist and he can give u a diet based on ur preferances, and way of life ,and make sure u lose pounds in a wright way. sorry if i sounded like i was attacking u :(

Thanks :pink:If you are eating a very wide range of foods and are not losing more than 1 or 2 pounds per week then this diet probably won't do you any harm in the short term.
If you are losing more than 1 or 2 pounds per week you will be losing some muscle as well as fat and should increase your calorie intake accordingly.

1,200 calories should be your lowest.
