So, I just wanna lose a little weight. I've been eating healthy and running a few times a week. But my mom had bought a book, the south beach diet, and i was wondering if anyone knows any info about it. What I mean is, does it work? And if it does, do you keep the weight off? I've heard that a lot of those fad diets you lose weight really fast, but gain it back fast and sometimes more. What do you know about it? Oh, by the way, I'm not fat, I'm like 5'5" and 125, I just want to lose a little bit. And it says you lose belly fat first, which I want. so what do you guys know?

A friend of mines mother did this diet. It was developed by a cardiologist for his patients. Basically it is a high protien/low carb diet. The first 2 weeks I believe you eat no carbs at all. After that you start to add carbs from fruits/vegatables etc. You have to stay away from breads and sweets. You loose the wieght from the belly area first and it stays off as long as you don't go back to bad eating habits. You loose the weight when you are in keytosis(sp?), this is when your body is getting it's energy from stored fat. You can test when you are in keytosis with a urine test that can be done at home, you can also detect it on the breath. It smells kinda fruity. Hope this helped

I'm on the South Beach Diet right now. I've been on it for almost 2 months now! I've lost about 12 pounds so far, 8 of which came off in the first 2 weeks (Phase 1). With Easter just passing, it's been hard to stay away from the candy, but the South Beach Diet is designed so that if you have a not-so-good week or few days, you can get right back on track.
I haven't had any trouble with cravings at all. It's actually been a lot easier than I thought it would be.
If you have any questions about it let me know and we can talk!!

it does work you do lose weight but it also depends on the person if you keep the weight off, the diet is very boring however coz its like chicken salads day after day. It is very expensive, but if you like that kind thing go for it.

No carbs!? Sounds pretty damn stupid. You need carbs for energy so if you go on this diet expect to be tired a lot of the time!
It is very simple to lose weight. Simply work out a lot (it seems you already do) and eat 500 calories less than you normally do. Also instead of drinking pop or juice drink lots of water instead, and also some milk (maybe 2 glasses a day of it).

You can reintroduce carbs after phase 1.

Yep. After the first 2 weeks (phase 1), you can have carbs (the good ones).
