I think that I have too much hair above my upper lip. Now I know I am not the only one here with this problem, so I was wonderin what you other gals do about it. I can't get it waxed because my parents wont let me, though I do have a bottle of NAIR hair removal. Should I try it? Should I just try using tweesers?? Help a girl out PLEASE!!! I know not to shave it lol!!

It's stupid that your parents won't allow you to wax, it is your body. Try the Nair tho.

Yeah I know its really stupid. Once I get a car and a job I will go and get it done, but I just don't know if NAIR will make the hair grow back thicker....

I wouldn't think it would make it grow back thicker. If anything it'd be quite soft compared to shaving (which you don't do anyway) You haven't got anything to lose really.

ok thank you very much, I just was worried that since hair grows back thicker when you shave, it would grow back thicker when you use NAIR.

Does anybody else have any tips that they do about lip hair besides waxing? Sometimes I try to put some makeup over it I guess, and when I look tan you cant see it as well, though I am not aloud to go to tanning salons and spring has just started.

I heard that NAIR would make my upper lip too dry and it would start peeling....

You don't have to go and get it waxed professionally.
Why not do it yourself? You can buy a kit at any drug store.

DON'T UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE TWEEZERS! It will only make the hair grow back darker and thicker, not to mention ingrown hairs above your lip. Try a bleching kit, or laser hair removal. They are really your safest bets in this matter.

Okay, everything you hear about shaving or waxing makes your hair grow thicker is a MYTH! I am a swimmer and in competitions you have to shave EVERY SINGLE HAIR in your body. Not the ones on your head, ofcourse. Yay, showercaps! Anywhoo, you get the same results for both... when you wax, it'll last longer, BUT you have to wait until it grows to a certain length to wax it again. when you shave, you have to shave constantly, but it's much easier and faster.... and less painful. it seems like it grows thicker when you do either one because the normal volume of the hair is exposed. you're hair didn't grow THICKER... it's just normal. before shaving/waxing, it was weared out, which made it seem smaller and thin.

My friend has the same problem as you. She is quite dark skinned so the hair above her lip is much more noticeable because it's black. She uses this bleach specialised for it got jolen and it works really well. It basically bleaches the hair blonde and you can use it anywhere else where you have unwanted dark hair.

I still think that this is your best bet. Tweezing, if kept up rergularily, will not be as bad as shaving. Maybe you should go out and buy one of those girl books. Even in there they talk about shaving causing the hair to grow back thicker. I still believe that is does, but tweezing I don't think will cause it to grow back as fast or as thick being that you are pulling out the hair by the root. Best of luck!

bleach the hair. basically the simplest thing to do

She had said earlier that her parents wont let her go out and get it waxed, so I don't think they will let her go out and get it bleached. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Jill is asking if tweezing and nair are good ideas, or if there are any other "homemade" tips.

Shaving, waxing, tweezing, nairing etc. NOTHING will make your hair grow back thicker or darker. You're hair's tips are at an angle and when you shave wax etc. they grow back flat on the end so they APPEAR thicker but it is very slight, hardly noticeable, an if you continue to keep the hair removed then who cares?

Shaving will leave stubble. Tweezer, it will get the entire hair out.

Do not use Nair on your face, unless you wouldn't mind a chemical burn in the place of your mustache.

dont use nair dont try to remove it useing anything accept laser surgery or it will be mor noticable. DONOT UNDER ANY CURCUMSTANCES TWEEZE IT!!!!!!! just bleach it if u cant have it done with laser.

die the moutache light blonde. Thats what ur supposed to do so its not visible.

Otherwise it leaves a red mark on the upper lip, which looks really bad.

Shadowfaxgal

The red mark is temporary. And yes by all means use a tweezer.

For more info read my thread on this. There have been many people asking about this, so I put up a thread on it called The Truth. Please look at it.

I know its temporary u muppet. But it still looks bad.

Dieing it light blonde so its not visible is better.
