Yup, it's Academy Awards night, and there are some great clothes and some really bad ones. And no, this doesn't count as movies because it's not about the movies, it's about the clothes.
So, as the night goes on, who looks good and who looks horrible?
I think Melissa Rivers' dress would be gorgeous if it had 2 sleeves instead of 1. Thoughts?

Joan Rivers has got the biggest over kill I've ever seen in my life.
By over kill, I mean the most dead animal.

I like fashion in general. It doesn't matter who wears it.

Thanks but no thanks for the advice. I can figure out my own fashion. I'm not obsessed with what they wear. I happen to think it's enjoyable to see what celebrities are wearing. If you don't, fine, but don't criticize me for it.
On that note, Nicole Kidman's dress was gorgeous, probably my favorite out of all of them.

Bill Murray would have won had Sean Penn not been nominated. Johnny Depp was never going to win, it was the wrong role. Too quirky. Have you seen Lost in Translation? Bill Murray was phenomenal. I hoped he'd win.

Well the Oscars haven't broadcasted in Sydney yet, it's only 6.00pm now and it's on in 90 mins. Can't wait to see it.
^^ yeah I can't wait. I love the red carpet.
to whoever said we care to much about what celebrities wear, I really don't care who wears what. I design evening dresses every day so I know how to figure out my own fashion. But I appreciate a good dress and have a good laugh about the bad ones.
If you were a talented musician, would you stop listening to other musicians because you could make your own music?

Uma Thurman looked like a fucking milkmaid..
I didn't see it all. The beginning bit where they were all arriving started at around 1am... and I fell asleep at 2am just as the award ceremony started! :(

Did you even see Penn's performance? Your personal vendetta against him shouldn't get in the way of his talent.
Ooh. Johnny Depp. He looked kind of, well... gorgeous, last night. I don't usually really fancy him but god damn, he was FINE!
I just had to say that :)

Naomi Watts (see attachment) and Charlize Theron looked the most stunning imo.
I don't usually give a shit about the Oscars, but because I work for a photo agency now I had to deal with some Oscar pics today...Uma Thurman's dress = awful =/

It's hard to believe that Johnny Depp could actually be 41 this year.
i don't like how so many designers ruin a beautiful dress by making them in ordinary colours. eg Naomi Watts, Charlize Theron, & the girl with the $3 million diamond dress. They were all nice dresses but they would have been so much nicer if they were actually in a real colour instead of that boring bone/skin tone colour!

:( I just wrote a reply to this but got disconnected as i tried to post it.
Basically I agreed with you, Ali. That bone colour makes the person wearing it look so washed out and funny. Too bad it's so popular right now! I don't like it at all... And the people that you mentioned did look gorgeous, but would have looked even better in a different colour.
exactly, how pretty would that diamond dress have been in a really light pink? ahh one day i'll make their dresses for them and there will be colour on the red carpet once again.
angelina jolie, naomi watts and renee zwelleger. i loved all their dresses.
i wonder long it would be before i get invited to the oscars ;]

i thought that even though Julia Roberts dress was pretty..it was just not a good dress for her..makes her look way out of proportion. I loved Jennifer Garnier's dress, Renee Zelwegger, and Naomi Watts.
Sandra Bullock looked really pretty, but her dress was awful =/
nicole kidman looked like a fish

Alot of the women went for light/pearly/skin tones just like at the Golden Globes. I think it paid off on alot of them.. Julia Roberts in paticular wore a very shimmery brown stone (can't think of any other words to describe it) dress and it looked lovely.
Catherine Zeta Jones wore a blood red gown which she looked stunning in (as usual) and someone else (can't remember her name) wore a very dramatic, strange shade of green but it complimented her pale skin perfectly. =)

I thought Catherine Zeta-Jones looked pretty at the Oscars. Johnny Depp SHOULD have won best actor I think. I really do miss his hair and mustache though....not that he doesn't look good now, but he just should have kept his hair.
