I don't think LOTR deserved to win everything it did. I'm not doubting that the film was somewhat of a masterpiece because it was, the visual effects were amazing but it wasn't that good as an overall picture. Bah.

I wanted City of God to win at least one but i don't think it did.. ? That is by far my film of the year - it's directing was out of this world and it managed to capture something that all the other big hollywood blockbusters that were nominated didn't.

Have any of you actually seen the other movies to compare them with Johnny's performance? I'm a fan, but I'm glad Sean Penn won.

I cant believe Johnny Depp didnt win. That was booty, they should have just called it the Lord of the Rings Academy Awards.

Yeah, I know. EVERYTHING LOTC was nominated for, it won. That wasn't fair. And Johnny Depp should have won best actor in a leading role....he DID put that whole movie together.

He is a really good actor and he deserves more recognision. I was supprized he was nominated at all though. Pirates was not really an oscar type film.

I like Johnny Depp but Sean Penn is more of dramatic actor than Johnny so maybe in a few more years Johnny will have more serious roles and earn his Oscar.

I didn't want Johnny Depp to win for POTC because I think he should be recognized for something better. If he's gonna win, I'd want him to win for a serious movie...not a blockbuster.

Johnny Depp should not have won. Phenomenal though he is, the role was entirely wrong for the academy awards. I think Bill Murray should have won. Lost in Translation was a masterpiece and his acting was completely mind-boggling. I really think he deserved it. Then again, I haven't seen mystic River. Oh well. I just wish the song from A Mighty Wind would have won. That movie was awesome and so underrated.

Thank you Disgustipated and ksurfer. I hope he eventually does win an Oscar, because it's long overdue.

I did not enjoy Mystic River at all. And Sean Penn's acting was not all that much.

Dude that is your opinion. But I have to admit that RotK Kicked everyone's butt and took names. I m a fan of LotR and have been fro 8 years. and LotR got jipped out of an Oscar 2 times in a row so they deserved this one or should I say THIS ELEVEN!
