Hey, there’s this film festival that was started by high school kids
that is for high school filmmakers to show their films, called WYFF (it used to
be called the Westport Youth Film Festival). I went last year, and I was
amazed at how many people showed up to see high school kids films. They have
an awards ceremony at the end and they give out awards to all the best
films. They also had a bunch of talks with filmmakers whose movies were being
shown and adults in the movie business. Last year Al Brodax, the guy who made
Yellow Submarine (the animated film with the Beatles) spoke about his
experience working on the movie. Overall it was an awesome experience.
Last year they received more than 400 films from high school kids all over
the world! You should check it out and enter your film at www.wyff.net. The
entry deadline is March 31st, and the festival is on May 13th. You
should come and check it out, because it’s a blast!
