Do any of you like western movies? If you do what are your favorites? Here are some of mine:
High Noon- I like the fact that it's set in real time and they often show a clock, plus it has a hero that actually shows some fear about the upcoming shootout.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly- It has a great score and I think it's my favorite of the Eastwood movies but I like his others too, like Fistful of Dollars.
Shane- Good cinematography and some classic lines.
The Magnificent Seven- Good movie even though it's a remake of Seven Samurai.

High Noon is a classic and the clock was brilliant, but I actually felt it slowed the pacing somewhat. It's like when you sit and stare at a clock, time seems to pass by rather slowly. Good movie though.
Once Upon a Time in the West is probably my favorite western, with The Good The Bad and The Ugly in a close second. Sergio Leone put a lot of style in his films and he broke out of the boundary of what Hollywod had declared a western. Leone's A Fistful of Dollars was nearly a shot-by-shot remake of the samurai film Yojimbo, but that didn't make it a bad film.
John Ford's westerns were good too, but his films were completely Hollywood, not that Hollywoods bad. The Searchers and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon are two of my favorites of his. His best, by personal opinion, was The Grapes of Wrath, but that's not a western, so never mind.
I also liked Pale Rider and the Eastwood directed Unforgiven.

The only western I've ever seen is The Outlaw Josey Wales with Clint. I'm changing that immediately.

I haven't seen some of those you guys have mentioned so I'll have to check them out. I looked up Once Upon a Time in the West and it sounds really good. I agree about the pacing of High Noon. Several times I found myself wondering if it was almost noon yet.
