I posted this in the school board around exam time and got some pretty good answers, but I have decided to do a speech on this topic and was looking for some insight. Who do you think is to blame for the holocaust? The Nazi's? Maybe the Jews, or the Germans. In a broader spectrum maybe it is socitey in general. I appreciate any and all answers, thanks in advance!

In a way....you could argue the allied minimally based on their treatment of germany post-ww1.

I'd say 95% is in the hands of the germans though.

All of Europe and the United States of America. Europe ignored Germany but holistically remained harsh towards it. I also blamed USA since American companies did business with Hitler.

In my oppinion it all startet because of the Treaty of Versaille. Without it they never would have won that power struggle. But of course, THEY are to be blamed. They wouldn't have had to kill all these people if they just wanted some kind of revenge!

At being ragingly succesful. Jewish businesses, lawyers, doctors. Disproportionate amounts of Jews in good professions.

Everyone who knew about the Holocaust while it was happening is to blame. I think that when you know that somehting bad is happening, yet you do nothing, is helping the problem persist. Hitler wat to blame, of course for have so many dumb prejudices against the jews with no real way to back up what he was blaming them for. How in the world can you blame them for things like The Depression and Losing WW2? And they only made up about 1% of the population. The German people are also to blame as well, mainly because no one spoke up. I can't really blame them for that though, knowing that whoever spoke out against Hitler was Jailed or killed. I just think it's weird how he manipulated them so that they didn't even realize their own freedoms and rights were being taken away from them. The Nazis are to blame of course for carrying everything out. And the people who deny the Holocaust are to blame as well... mainly because if something like this is ever forgotton, that will increase the chances of something like this happening again.

Actually, the one who designed and planned out and carried out operations for the Holocaust was Himmler and some other guy... They, the Nazi Party, and the people ( SS Guards ) who carried out the massacres are to blame.

There is a broader picture and a lot more people who were involved, but it was basically the Nazi party which was in control.

I'm looking for the word, I can't name it but here's a description. I was always told the strategy was to satisfy the nazis and hopefully they'd stop. for example, after they took poland, england figured the nazis would stop since hitler already sacked the country. I think it was called appeasement, but there's a more formal definition that has slipped my tongue.

Largely to blame was the bystanders as well. Hitler was very sensitive to public protest, when he was about to deport a group of jews who intermarriaged, the gentile wives of the jews protested and hitler actually gave in.

Hitler, Nazi's. You can't blame it on the Jewish, it's not like they were the only ones put into the camps. Hitler wanted to get rid of gypsies, homosexuals, cripples, ect. You can't blame all of Europe either... Just because there was a war between the countries, doesn't mean there had to be the holocaust, it was Hitler's idea to take the distraction of the war for his own sick ideas. It wasn't a necessity in the war to win, it was pretty much a side-battle. It was like putting a bunch of baby chicks in a cage with a lion while all the lion tamers were out on lunch break.
