do pilates. it tones and doesn't really build up muscle. so you don't have to end up looking like some body builder. eeew that's disgusting, especially on women. haha...nasty images.

i agree with the other two, you don't need it, but if you still prefer to tone that area, do pilates core workouts. you need materials though... if you don't want to invest much in pilates equipment and just want a core workout that's completely simple, then buy a medicine ball. it should come with some helpful workouts concerning the back and the abs. you need to do the workouts for the back and the abs in order to get results for your sides. not really any specific workout aimed specifically for the sides and nothing else. it's a working progress, so you need to excercise the other bits to get the results you want.

like they said, you don't need it. you really don't.

They're called your obliques by the way.

Lie on your back, arms down to your sides, touch your heel/ankle with arm, then do the same on the other side. Its easy, so do tons of 'em, will soon tone you up.

Pilates works for me. I think you would look better in different style panties. Stay away from the string type bikinis, try boyshort for example. The trick is to change the proportion of what is covered and what is uncovered.

the "sides" you want are called hips, if you don't have them naturally, no exercise will give you them.

by the way...how have you been working out your stomach? I am trying to tone mine right now but can't seem to find the right exercises. I know crunches, but anything else?

Actually, like someone before me siad, they're called obliques. Why would she show a picture focusing on her stomach if she was talking about her hips? and why would she call them "stomach sides" and I'm pretty sure most people know where their hips are.

Try searching it.

u seem to have the same prob i do. hips are good, waist is good, and then there's this awkward part on the sides in between! it's the most annoying thing ever. i share your pain. but anyway some exercises i could suggest:

lie on your side and sorta prop ur head up on ur hand closest to the ground. use the other arm on top to sorta keep yourself from falling over.

there are 2 exercises u can do from here.
1. drop the arm underneath and keep it by the side of your head. then lift your upper body up using the muscles on the side of your body. try not to twist or push yourself up with your arm. this strengthens the muscles on the upper half more than the lower half, but it works on both.

2. keep your head propped up and keep yourself from falling over with your other arm. then lift your leg toward the ceiling. don't turn your leg unless you want to work on your abs. just raise it sideways toward the ceiling. this will work on the muscles more toward the top of your hips in the famed "love handle" area.

other than those i could suggest getting exercise bands. they usually come with a basic guide to exercises u use them for and help strengthen things faster because they give you resistance.

hope it helped!

do pilates. it tones and doesn't really build up muscle. so you don't have to end up looking like some body builder.
Yeah, because as everyone knows any other type of resistance exercise will cause a woman to instantly look like a bodybuilder...

...Anyway, to answer the original question, a good exercise would be stomach vacuums. Basically you suck your stomach in, hold it in for a certain amount of time, relax, then repeat.

My fitness and wellness teacher told us to do James Fondas. You lay on your side.. And lift your knees off the floor, along with your head and arm that isn't on the floor. You'll feel a tightening on the side above your hip and your hip..
