My mom said that she would get me this Alberta Ferretti dress (http://www.net-a-porter.com/isroot/NETAPORTER/SiteImages/prod_large/11685_index.jpg) as a pre-christmas present for me if I shared it with my sister because it's expensive. I feel badly that it's so expensive (around $6000) but my mom insisted so ehh I might as well :( I tried it on in the store and it was a bit big because nothing really fits me...ever, but anyway, should I get it regardless of the fact that it's big and just be able to wear it for a long time or just get something else? (I don't like the black flower thing so that can be taken off and I'd replace it with a brooch or something)

In my opinion, that is one ugly dress.

Don't buy a dress, no matter the brand, if it doesn't fit/flatter your body type.

it is pretty, and that is a crazy amount of money for a piece of material that isn't made of diamonds, however your mom abviously has the money to spend, but if something dooesn't fit you right, it isn't worth any amount of money. And it will make you feel bad later on.

It's a gorgeous dress, but if it's too big, don't get it. Don't spend money on something that won't flatter you.

I feel badly that it's so expensive (around $6000) but my mom insisted so ehh I might as well :(If you feel that bad about it and it doesn't fit properly, why let your mom buy it for you, especially when you take into account the price tag? In my opinion, no teen should own anything that expensive, unless said teen bought it on his/her own.

If i were u id spend less money on stuff that fits you and clothes you can wear more often.

Chances are you wouldnt wear that dress cause it doesnt fit you right and even if you did you'd wear it, what, once?

its a gorgeous dress. I attend alot of charity events and such, so i do wear dresses often. I think ur kinda in the same situation- judging by alot of other posts that u've made. I'd buy it, its gorgeous. could u get it altered or something? or would it not fit ur sister then? just make sure u like it, otherwise u'll never wear it, and u'll feel horrid afterwards... trust me, i've done that a couple times, i felt soo baad. but anyways, its lovely :pink:

Yea, I found out that I can get it altered. I wasn't sure because of the material type. I'm really small and the dress shape flatters that for some reason, so even if it is a bit big even after the alterations I think it would still look good. Thank god! I'm in love it it. I think I'm going to go on Saturday to get it. Yea charity events,"galas," "balls" and such are a large part of my life and unfortunately a lot of them I go to are photographed and put into Quest magazine and others so I won't be able to wear it a lot to events :( but I can wear it out and stuff. I'm so pumped, lol.

I'm in exactly the same situation as both of you, too. My dad is a set designer and my mom's a really high profile lawyer out here in LA so I'm always at premieres and parties, etc. etc. I think the dress is really gorgeous, except for that black flower - I'd get it.

That is a stunning dress but as it doesn't fit you then I don't think you should get it as it wouldn't show off you figure as good as it could.

I love premiers, no matter what it's for it just is cool to be among the first people who see an exhibit or something along those lines. That's awsome that your dad is a set designer, my parents have boring jobs lol. Yea, the black flower is funny looking lol, I'm going to put an antique brooch in the place of it.
