Who's your favorite character and why?

mines sawyer because he's funny, even though hes ruff on the outside he has a nice side, and mainly because he's incredibly hot :winkkiss:

I love Lost, my fave character is Charlie because he is English (Like Me) and he kicked his drug addiction and he hasnt exactly had an easy time so i feel a bit sorry for the poor guy.

the blond girl from the back of the plane(cynthia watros plays her) she is just like hurly and shes so cool.

i watched the show once.. its pretty thrilling.. never really understood what it was about but the title kinda sorted that out for me.. the doctor guy is pretty hot..

Favorite characters, I have a lot of favorite guys, but I really like Charlie, Sawyer, Locke, and Mr. Eko.
Girls, Kate and Ana Lucia. I know mostly everybody hates Ana Lucia, but I just adore her for some reason. Probably because I can tell that behind the attitude problem she's really a kind person. Tough girls need love too!

We here in the UK have just finished season one :( (although I know pretty much everything that happens in the start of the second series anyway). So I don't know all the new people. But my favourite is Charlie. He's so sweet (plus he's british). I like Sawyer too (obvious reason - he's hot). Jack annoys me. His voice gets on my nerves.

my thoery on the smokey beast:

we already know this beast is some kind of Security System, it seems to show up whenever the given characters get too close to the truth or find a way off the island. we also know that Walt isnt the only one with the power to manifest creatures, perhaps the others are simply able to create more advanced creatures. the beast is like a computer system, it activates when needed, and feeds and reacts upon it's targets fears. Eko is able to face his fears, so the beast can't touch him, Lock however has a very definate fear- being helpless, so the beast became substancial to him, and grabbed his legs, the beast, now substancial, was also now vulnerable to the stick of dynomite jack threw into the hole. the beast can manifest itself into various forms, such as a shark (watch the ep where Mike and Sawyer are on the busted raft, the shark that swims under them has a dharma logo on its belly.)

so basically, the flashing images where kind of like data files on a computer, presenting themselves as the beast preforms a related task.

If it was just a security system, then why did it bother manifesting itself into a shark when Mike and Sawyer were coming back on the tide anyway?

Also, what was it protecting this time? Eko and Charlie were finding the plane, which we already know is in a state of disrepair so it couldn't be used to fly away.

I don't know, I guess we'll just have to see how it pans out. It probably won't be explained at all.

Abrams is like this, as a guy who followed Alias from Ep1 i can tell you, he loves to screw around. Anyway, it's just a thoery, a flawed one admitiably, but i'm just working it out as i go along, the shark might have been something totaly different, like a guardput up around the island to stop anyone from swimming for it, who knows?

Let's not forget that Locke was one of the very first people to see the monster and he made it out alive. Something about how we stared into it's eyes and saw the true beauty of the island or some bullshit. I do agree however that the monster is related to the character's pasts.

Thanks for the link Bitchtits, i'm sticking with my older thoery that this thing is some kind of security system. i think the beast apparitioned because The Others where unsure of why Eko was going after the plane, so the beast scanned Eko, like a computer, searching his mind like a database, and realizing his motives and that Eko wasnt a threat or a plane mechanic, left him be.

when jack and bad santa where talking there was no collateral, Jack, Lock and Sawyer (James) might have been outnumbered, but they where on even ground with Bad Santa and still had loaded guns. Kate was the ace in the sleeve for Bad Santa, she was the only reason jack stood down.

Lol, y'know i was just thinking that... sick minds think alike i guess. so did you notice that Bad Santa's gun hasnt been used since WW2? i know they've found other WW2 paraphanalia on the island, but i'm not sure what it means.

Yeah, I did register the age of the gun, but I couldn't make anything of it either.

The ship that they got the dynamite was pre-WW2, which suggests shipwrecks and crashes have occured on the island since man first learned to sail. It could well have been some military aircraft or ship just ended up on the island.

The question is: how long have Bad Santa and crew been on the island? At least 16 years, since they kidnapped Alex.

Also, what the fuck was the point of focussing on an album released by a very obscure late '70s band for however long they focussed on Geronimo Jackson for?

If you can't get away with it in a season of 25 episodes, when can you get away with it? Or did you expect the army to be fully trained and fighting Bad Santa already?
