...reality T.V.
Producers only like them because they don't have to pay writers or actors. They're completly pointless, and horribly corrupted. Half the shows Fox produceses are just plain mean. I think it's a representation of what The Good Ol' U S of A is slowly but surely coming to.
Just had to express that in my words. My friends and I were having a conversation on different generes of TV, so I figured I'd find out what anyone and everyone thought, an post it.
so, yeah. :3eyes:

I hate reality shows too because most of the shows have nothing but body beautifuls in and the whole world is not made up of body beautifuls. I don't really care if they put paris hilton on a farm. I also don't care to know who thought they should make ppl eat god knows what for alot of money.

You know on reality shows they're told how to act and who to be... I really don't think anyone can act THAT natural knowing there's cameras around. I still watch them, just cuz they're funny.

*sigh* I'm so happy I share my hatefulness for this genre of television with other people...

I hate reality shows. So much. It all started with "who wants to marry a millionaire"
my mum watches heaps of reality shows, I watch them with her. but then we both have always been fascinated with other people, we especially love Big Brother for predicting and watching all the social interactions. but y'know what is another social interaction that's fun to observe? how the people who HATE reality tv, always know so much about it and always have to scoff at those who do watch it... we're still working on what it all means, but it sure is interesting.

Um, participants in reality t.v. shows are paid for being them, so the theory about producer's getting cheap show's is wrong.
And as for them "Acting" how in the hell could you act for 24 hours a day? Now that would truly deserve an oscar.
It's fair enough if you dont like the shows, but at least know what your talking about before you state your opinion on thing's.

Yes, they are. I guess what I meant to say was that it's cheaper to produce a reality TV series than to produce a cast & call series. In the long run, a reality series "participant" is paid what, maybe, 25,000 dollars down. Another 50,000 mayby, when the show is over. Not to mention the emotional and mental costs.
It's not acting per se, but what is shown on the waves and what has actually happended are two completely different things. There's been interveiws with reality "kin folk" (if you will), that have put this out. There is a crapload of editing done to the tape. Notice how one person is always the bitch, another person is always the whiner, and another one has the temper problem? It's all so cliche'. How can someone be expected to act normal with a camera in their face 24/7 anyway? Not to menton the drama the producers add.
I beleive I know enough to firmly stand my ground. If you wish to further debate me on this subject, and it turns out that I'm wrong, then I will have no other choice than to addmit it.
P.S. For future refrence, I usually try not to get involved with quarrels or debates on things I don't have a particular knowledge of.
P.P.S I'm not trying to be mean, it might seem that way, but it's not. ;)

i like a few of the shows, like the real world, its just entertaining lol. the surreal life is pretty funny, i mean, look at the people they put under one roof, how can you not laugh? lol
reality shows are getting way out of hand though. pretty soon that will be all thats left at the rate they're going.

I like the irony. "Reality" TV. You don't see me stranded on an Island, esting bugs, voting others off, or competing to win tons of money.

I take it your not in England? Because if you were, you would realise that people in the uk big borther are not necessarilt portrayed as being anything. I mean scott from this years big brother wasn't portrayed as anything, and steph, same thing. And i honestly dont believe that they edit it to make people seem like they are a certain way, for example if you say something that makes you seem like an asshole, then that's what they will show and it will portray you as an asshole, but only because you are one.
You also said "How can someone be expected to act normal with a camera in their face 24/7 anyway?" Well in that case, how can someone be expected to "act" infront of the camera's 24-7? If someone could do this, then they would deserve an oscar.
Reality tv shows bring out people's voyeuristic side, it's like looking out your bedroom window and you can see in your neighbours window, you would love to sit and watch what happens, but you cant for fear of getting caught, well with reality tv you cant get caught and that's why they get such good ratings.
And, it tends to be the most "normal" people that last the longest in the house, the public isn't stupid and they can tell when someone says things just to draw attention to themselves. I mean just look at Lisa from last years Big Brother uk, she was sent in to cause trouble, and she was immediately hated by the public, it was just to fake.
P.S. I love debates, so reply. :)
