I've noticed that a lot of girls at my school have wonderfully straight hair- I have naturally wavy hair, and I wonder how they to it. I spend HOURS straightening my hair every morning and it always ends up looking just as wavy as it started the instant I step out the door. I'm on a low budget, and I want to know if theres any way I can get my hair to be straight.

It sounds like your straitener isn't very good if it takes a long time to get it strait and it curls up again. Do you straiten your hair only when it's completely dry? Do you use any straitening cremes / syrums?

Okay. DON'T CHEMICAL STRAIGHTEN. My friend did that, and she has to do it every few months because her roots grow out and look retarded. Since you have wavy hair, you can probably get it to curl up on it's own, without heat treating it. Why not do that? It's easier WAY less damaging. Try Matrix Curl Life Shampoo and Conditioner. A bit expensive.. but worth it.

If you take good care of your hair beforehand, then there should be little to no damage if you get your hair chemically straightened. But once you do it, you usually have to keep it up because once your roots grow out, the hair between it and the straight hair gets very weak and breakable. And you have to get a touch up at your roots so your hair can continue to look nice and straight. Anyways (to the threadstarter) have you ever tried flat ironing with ceramic plates? Also, I recommend Nexxus produts. They are expensive, as well, but they are one of the best products out there.

Blow dry your hair as straight as you can and use some straightening balm. Thats what I use on my hair and now I only straighten it every two days.

Yeah, like everyone else said, you don't know how your hair will take to it. But here was my experience with it:

It cost me $60, I couldn't wash my hair or put it up for 3 days, the ends were completely fried and as soon as I did wash it on the 4th day, it just went wavy again.
