i dont think theres any movie that has "scared the hell outta me" but there are a couple that i find pretty good: what lies beneath, dawn of the dead, the exorcist (classic), etc etc.

I love this one movie from 1945 called 'Dead of Night.' Great, great British horror movie. It was, I think, the first 'omnibus' horror movie - where there's one main storyline that serves as a framework for short segments telling other stories.
Most of the movies that crossed my mind just now are more thrillers than horror films. For example, 'Jaws' and 'The Birds.' 'Diabolique' is a great French psychological thriller.

My favourites are:
Poltergeist 1,2,3 (First Horrors I ever saw...poor kid)
The Ring 1,2
Hide and Seek
Wolf Creek
Saw 1,2
Amityville Horror (recent one)
The Ninth Gate
Rose Red
They aren't necessarily scary but they keep my attention the more I watch them, not many movies are able to do that. Texas Chainsaw (original) annoyed me to no end I was screaming at the tv for certain ppl to die but they wouldn't, my friend found this very amusing...definately not cool imo.

Hmmm, I guess I will rate my top five:
1) The Amityville Horror (recent one)
2) Christine (I was glued to the screen)
3) The Lost Boys (WOW)
4) The Exorcist
5) Cabin Fever
There are more that I really like...and besides the Amityville Horror, the others don't follow the order I guess!
