I wouldn't know, because I'm naturally tan and don't have a problem with it. If anything, don't go to tanning booths or use self tanners. Tanning booths are unhealthy for you, and self tanners make you look orange.

^ i no i would never do 2 a tanning booth, i'd just burn 4 one thing and its so bad 4 u, and im probly already high-risk 4 skin cancer.

The simplest way to preserve a tan is to use a moisturizing body wash and to put on lotion every day when you get out of the shower. It keeps your skin hydrated and will prevent the tanned skin cells from drying up and falling off.

Another thing you can do is look in Shoppers Drug Mart or another store that sells cosmetics for a cream designed to keep your tan. I hear they work well.

Go easy on the tanning, hey? I know it's addictive and it looks awesome, but it can be dangerous if you get overzealous. A little sunscreen never hurt anyone.

^ i dont normally tan at all, i didnt really even purposely tan, and i put LOTS of sunscreen on. but i have a question, burns cause skin cancer right, but if u didnt burn but u still got a tan, would that cause skin cancer 2? i dunno if that really made sense lol.

Also, your face is where your tan will start to fade first. Think about all the scrubbing you do with your facecloth every morning and everynight, and how much time you spend with your hands on your face. There are bronzing powders out there that are basically blush but more brown-y that you can brush onto your face (like blush) that will give you back your glow without sticking yourself in a tanning bed.

It depends on how long you're out in the sun. Even if you didn't burn, if you don't use sunscreen, your skin will still absorb sun damage.

A sunburn and a suntan are both your skin's reactions to damage from the sun. A sunburn is generally considered to be more serious and more damaging than a tan, probably because it turns your a nice shade of red. This isn't to say that tanning is particularily good for you, either. Whether you tan or whether you burn it's your skin saying ''Ow, the sun is hurting me.''

I imagine that, just like getting multiple sunburns over the course of your life can lead up to skin cancer, spending too much time soaking up UV rays can do the same thing. I'm not saying don't tan because that would make me a hypocrite (I love tanning) but be reasonable. Is looking like you moved from Mexico worth the possibility of losing 10 years off the end of your life?
