The Square
This can only be made with 4 strands.

Step 1: Similar colours face each other, if they are all different it doesn't matter what order they are.
Step 2: Choose the colour you are going to work on. It doesn't matter which it works the same with any. The one at the back is crossed over to the front and vice versa. It should make a pretzel type shape.
Step 3: The purples are then crossed over and threaded through the opposite pink loop on the inside of the opposite purple string.
Step 4: The strings are then pulled tight, opposite colours at a time, until a square is made.
Step 5: The strings should now have deffinate sides and must stick to these sides.
Step 6: The whole process is just repeated over and over until it is as long as you want it to be.

The Circle
This can be made with more then 4, however it does become more difficult.

Step 1: Start with any colour and cross it over the string next to it on the right.
Step 2: The string that has just been crossed over now crosses over the string to its left.
Step 3: Again The string that has just been crossed over now crosses over the string to its left.
Step 4: This is repeated until there is only 1 string left, which is threaded through the loop the 1st string made.
Step 5: The strings are then pulled tight, opposite colours at a time, until a square is made.
Step 6: Again the whole process is just repeated over and over until it is as long as you want it to be.

The Spiral
This can be made with more then 4 and is the easiest.

Step 1: All but 1 strings are held together.
Step 2: The other string is wrapped around the others and a loop is made.
Step 3: The string is then threaded through the loop and pulled tight.
Step 4: This is repeated with the same colur afew times and a spiral starts to form.
Step 5: When that colour has been used afew times repeat the process with another colour. Keep going until it is as long as you want it.

I used to have tons of these about 8 years ago. We didn't make them, just bought them off a market stall, heh. Apparently all the different colours had different meanings, but no one actually knew what any of them were.

Ah, memories.
