Okay, so I got my cartilidge pierced 6 weeks ago and today I took it out today to change it/see if anything was wrong and and there was like a bump and in the middle was the hole (piercing lol). I'm pretty sure that its an infection and I don't know what to do :( My dad told me to put peroxide on it but my sister said that that was like really stupid because it would burn through my ear...and I wanted to go back to the piercing shop and like get help but my dad was like "What are they going to do about it?"
So what should I do? I googled it and I found stuff on infections but nothing on treating infections....

Ok, well the bump is probably a keloid... they are really common with cartilage piercings. Most of the time they don't hurt, and its not an infection. If you go to the store and put tea tree oil on it, it will help bring it down. However, if you also have an infection, just make sure to clean it and buy some sea salt spray (or sea salt by itself and mix w/ water) that will help speed up the healing process.
Klutz is right, I even have them in my lobe peircings, if it was infected it would be hurting BAD and hot to the touch, red, and probably having some nasty goo

Have you been taking care of it EVERY DAY??? The first three months are the most important for any piercing. If you take care of it every day and do what you're supposed to do, there should be nothing wrong. Have you ever toutched it without having your hands washed or let someone eles touch it? That could be the reason. What ever you do DO NOT USE PEROXIDE OR ALCOHOL ON YOUR PIERCINGS. It can turn you healing piercing into a culture medium (pretty much a breeding ground for bacteria that can make it even worse) because it kills the germs and skin cells. You might just want to up whatever cleaning regimine that you're doing right now to twice a day or whatever.

Usually if its a keloid then and deep cuts or holes (like piercings) puff up. But i thought you could only get it if a member of your family had it.
