I'm interested in DIY t-shirt surgery or just plain out DIY fashion. I found these awesome stencils from stencilxcore/stencilry and plan to use them. I'm pretty new to it though, so I don't know where to start on how to basically stencil. I read a tutorial on paints, paper, and cutting methods but I'm still confused.

Have you tried going to http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=139.0 , click on which you need. A lot of people have put up tuts on how to do they stuff.
