took about 8.0 seconds. Not bad I would say for a 3200lb V6 mommy mobile :D with my friend (220lbs) and I (120lbs) in it. Also didn't help that I was a little wary of slugging it to full throttle as the exhaust tends to sound like it hates you when you hammer it off the line like that. My friend and I "raced" his Tempo against my Grand Am. Though it wasn't much of a race, more like a slaghter. Hopefully with my planned mods this summer I can drop that extra .5 (and sound mean doing it :D).

Right now I am planning on a 2.75" cat-back system, new high-flow cat, and side-exits on the exhaust (right behind the rear doors). Also hopefully be the end of september I will be finished with my HID conversion and all the interior and exterior lighting bits.

Next stop would be headers but I am holding back on those as there isn't much in the way of aftermarket for my car (cheapest set I have found is $700 :eek2: ) so I am waiting until I can get around to having someone weld me up a custom set.

All in all, it should cost me about a $1,200. Which isn't half bad at all.

Anyone else have some summer mods planned?

Edit: dont be scared, my 220lb friend is in fact, a guy. lol :D

I don't have any summer modificatons planned. Another transmission if mine breaks...I accidentally did a neutral drop last night. Haha. All I've done this summer was set the timing to 15 degrees, and put on a larger throttle body.

Many winter modifications are coming though. New heads (with new valve guides so I dont burn oil!!), rings, oh, and an Eaton M-90.

MY ONLY SUMMER MODS ARE GOING TO BE FIXING THE DAMAGE I DID ON SATURDAY NIGHT.....

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR SO HARD THAT ALL THE BOLTS AND NUTS HOLDING THE TURBO OUTLET TO THE TURBO CAME OFF, THE TURBO BOLTS WORKED LOOSE FROM THE VIBRATIONS, I SHREDDED MY DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTS, MY FUEL SENDER IS BROKEN, THE FUEL TANK IS LEAKING, MY OIL PAN IS LEAKING...... I'M SURE THERE IS MORE ONCE I GET UNDER THERE.

The only you'd damage like that is sitting in first gear, red-lining it for a few hours. Sure drag cars do that damage too, but they have that much horsepower its not funny. I doubt you would have the same amount of power and drive it the same as they do.

WHAT....? YOUR AN IDIOT, ALL TURBOCHARGED VEHICLES FACE THE PROBLEMS I HAVE WHEN THEY ARE OLDER. HEAT, VIBRATION, STRESS ON BOLTS MAKE THEM FAIL. I WAS RUNNING MY CAR AT 6K RPMS IN 5TH GEAR FOR LIKE 40 MINS STRAIGHT.... RACING A BUNCH OF MY FRIENDS. I WENT DRIFITNG, DRAG RACING, FREEWAY TOP SPEED RACING, MOUNTAIN ROAD RACING... THE ABUSE I WAS PUTTING THE CAR THROUGH CAUSED THE BOLTS TO STRESS AND STRETCH PULLING THEM FROM THEIR THREADS, THE VIBRATION OF A HANGING EXHAUST WORKED ALL THE TURBO TO MANIFOLD BOLTS LOOSE. THE EXHAUST VIBRATING ON THE GAS TANK CAUSED THE DRAIN PLUG TO CRACK AND LEAK....

I CAN PUT MY CAR THROUGH SOME ABUSE SEEING AS I'VE BEEN RACING MY WHOLE LIFE AND DRIVE HARD.

I WAS RUNNING MY CAR AT 6K RPMS IN 5TH GEAR FOR LIKE 40 MINS STRAIGHT.... Where on Earth is this stretch of road? For you to be going at that RPM for that long...damn! But sounds like you were having fun. Gotta love drifting and speeding

I DRIVE A '72 DATSUN 240Z WITH A NISSAN SR20DET SWAP.... WHEN THIS ALL HAPPEND I HAD IT MAXED AT 12-13PSI.

JVPISTON: BE SURE TO GET TRIANGULATED BRACES FOR MORE EFFECTIVENESS. STRAIGHT BARS HAVE VERY LITTLE EFFECT BECAUSE IT STILL ALLOWS THE STRUTS TO FLEX THEY JUST FLEX IN UNISON. WITH A TRIANGULATED SETUP THE STRUTS ARE RIDGED AND CANNOT FLEX BECAUSE THE BASE OF ONE TOWER PULLS THE TOP OF THE OTHER TOWER (UPFRONT ITS THE FIREWALL AND FRAMERAILS THAT HOLD THE TOWERS STRAIGHT).

THOSE ARE TWO EXAMPLES OF TRIANGULATED BARS.... OF COURSE EVERY CAR/VERSION IS DIFFERENT BUT THATS A TYPICAL 240Z SETUP.

I went zero to 60 once in my sis's grand am in like seconds - but it was only because the spedometer broke and kicked back up to 60 really quick.

I got my mom's Hyundai Santa Fe up to 60 in 9.7 seconds once.

i also got it to slide through like the latter 1/3 of a corner.

then she hit me.

really hard.

I can drop that extra .5 (and sound mean doing it :D).

There's nothing mean sounding about a V6. Side exit exhaust on a V6 Grand Am? Okay, hotrod wannabe

Yes there can be.

My last old man's car sounded ferocious with nothing but a header :D

Then post up a link to one. I heard many V6's with aftermarket exhausts and it sounds like shit.

I don't curl up in corners or cry

But I guess when you can't think of anything to defend yourself, you use anything you first think of

edit: oh my god, I just realized why he's such a moron. He's a Tool fan! HAHAHAHA Wow...that explains everything.

I know more than you will ever know, so how could I possibly be an idiot? If I'm an idiot, then you are a bigger idiot.

And you're a girl, so that explains why YOU are so stupid when it comes to cars.
