THE GIVER

Distant mystery

upon unknown land

I try to hold onto

all that I can

For that which you offer

meek though it be

I dispense

totality

My inner substance

I offer whole

you know my mind

you own my soul

A feckless possession

you award it no thought

leave it free to evanesce

cherish it not

I carry out appetantly

even the unfeasible

to placate my desire

easily apeasable

Thats my poem up there! Say what you will! Anything at all!

Good work. Several spelling mistakes in there, I thought it a bit vague at first.

Lovely stanza this:

My inner substance

I offer whole

you know my mind

you own my soul

I personally much prefer the stanza after that one. I feel it gets more to the depth of the poem. The stanza you to picked out the basis for the poem, but
A feckless possession

you ward it no thought

leave it free to evanesce

cherish it not
is just so much more powerful, and so much more mature. It shows that this author has a distinct quality about them. Congratulations LadyLiver, I distinctly liked this poem.

the giver is about a eutopian society, and one man has all the memories of the previous world.... and one young boy is chosen to be his little protege, in a society with no color, and everything is set in stone.... it's a good book. it made me laugh when the kid got his "stirrings".

Think I should change the title so as not to mislead people into thinking its about the book?
