My boy friend and I are having a competition; we are both trying to get a 6 pack. We each have different prizes for each other, however; I am not in it just for the prize. I want a 6 pack, so look good physically. I know that getting a six pack is VERY hard for women. I also know that working out alone will not help, I need to watch what I am eating. But what things should I eat, so I am asking ANYONE with and clues as to what exercises, or foods or even diets I would love to hear them, or rather read them. :peep:

Do different types of crunches...
-regular
-cross foot over bent knee and crunch towards knee
-legs straight in air
-holding the crunch
Whatever type of crunch you do- do it correctly. Observe your stomach as you do it. Don't just crunch. Engage your abs when you crunch. Make your stomach flat. Breathe out when you engage. Don't let your ribs go out of place either. Think of your whole upper body as a sliding glass door don't pop anything out. Keep it all in and flat and in control. Um...the slower you go- the better. No use in turning a crunch time into a head banging session. ;) The slower the more muscle you gain. Don't just do crunches tho. Pick up a pilates book. Pilates is like the best thing you can do. If you do it correctly.
Good luck! Let us know who wins. ;)

I use John Berardi's Lean Eating.
http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/leaneating_1.htm - Part 1
http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/leaneating_2.htm - Part 2
It works very well. I wouldnt see why women couldnt use it. If not, look on bodybuilding.com. Cardio and a good diet are key to abs. For cardio do HIIT (30 sec sprint, 90 sec slow. Work up to 20 minutes, when it gets easy, go 60/60, then 90/30).

When I do cruntches, I be sure to contract me abs as I flex and breathe out as I crunch. I find it really helps!

yea it is pretty hard for women to get 6packs, but i warn you it doesnt look anything like a guys pack, its not a intense and hughly shaped, its more smoother...and tinyer cut. its still really hot though. alot of guys like to look at mine and feel it and stuff, you both should enjoy your together!!
just this last month have i gotten a more definied 4pack, and im workin on a six as we speak. im not going to lie to you, its hard as hell! youve got to want it, you got to push it past the point of when u want to stop..lol i know you both can do it though..good luck

Cardio and a good diet are key to abs.Exactly. Most people are going to stress training your abs by way of crunches and other exercises. Well, you can do all the crunches you want but if the muscles are hidden under a layer of fat, you're not going to see the results. The only way to burn that layer of fat to reveal the underlying muscle is through cardiovascular exercise coupled with a good diet.

1. Just doing sit-ups will not help
2. Its genetically impossible for somepeople to actually get a 6pack
3. ALWAYS STRETCH (warm-up)
My advice is to undertake alot of cardio training....however no slacking off, the aim is to push; possibly extend your lactic-acid system, and your aerobic system. Partake in intense aerobic training, and when your done doing that (this you should build up slowly, and gradually increase BOTH duration, and intensity), then when your done with that half of your exercise start doing sit-ups.....in other words, sit-ups should be the LAST (only before a warm-down) thing you do, and every set should be done till exhaustion.
Best of luck....and always take care to perfect your technique

You could try the cottage cheese diet, no sugar diet, milk yogert and cheese diet and the food pyramid. There is lot's of them you could do, but don't go anerextic or starve yourself because that's dangerous..and don't start eating laxtitives..don't take atvantage of them like there regular choclete, you could pass out. For exersizes, I would suggest doing 300 sit ups a day, 100 in the morning, 100 in the afternoon..and 100 before you go to bed..I would also suggest running every morning. Belive me, you'll lose weight in a flash. --Unique
