I am a huge fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber (I've Cats lord knows how many times)! But I can't find it in theaters around where I live. I'll just have to suffer until it comes on dvd. :(

Haven't seen it at the cinemas - my Mum did and really I enjoyed it. I saw Phantom of the Opera on stage which was pretty good. I'll probably just end up renting it when it comes out on DVD.

I promise, it's completely worth it to see it now! I sound like a cheesy endorsement, but I don't get excited over movies...in fact, I have only posted a thread in here once asking a question. This is truly a great movie!

I read the book and then I saw the movie. The book was way better so I was greatly disapointed. They didn't even tell you phantom's name. They screwed up the ending, the sequence of events was wrong, they cut out the persian, they cut out my favorite part and the torture chamber. I was mad.

Poetic license. Things aren't going to be exactly the same or it would screw up copyright laws. Not bringing out the Phantom's name gives him more mystery and enhances his character. I kind of like how they focused on how he was more of a person than a madman. You really understood what was going on in his mind; you got the emotion out of why he did what he did instead of making him into a homicidal maniac.

Plus, you gotta take into account that the movie was based off of the muscial, which was based off of the book. The musical has to be different from the book, and the movie has to be different from the musical, therefore, much is going to get lost in translation.

Was it scary at all? I get scared very easily, but I would like to see it.

Lol he is a homocidal maniac but they don't capitalize on it. They focus more on the love triangle between him, his main squeeze Christine, and her lover Raoul.

Thats why I had major problems with it, because I find romance stories annoying.

POTO is culture. Beautiful pieces and beautiful voices.
But if you're not a musical person, don't bother. You would end up looking more like a big goosebump than a human.

Pretty good I must say.
